Very good news for the lions. We've been picked to finish 2nd in the WCC. That should be a nice boost of confidence for our team. The girls look very good so far. Really should have had that win against Arizona, but nonetheless a quality 3 games in 3 days from the Lions.

Gonzaga looks strong as well this season
MILWAUKEE (AP) -Heather Bowman scored 18 points to lead Gonzaga to a 69-62 upset over No. 16 Virginia on Sunday in the WBCA Classic.
Kelly Bowen and Janelle Bekkering added 15 points each for the Bulldogs (7-1), who won two out of three games in the tournament hosted by Marquette University.
The Cavaliers (5-2) were led by Monica Wright with 26 points and Aisha Mohammed with 16.
Virginia led several times in the second half, and Wright's basket put the Cavaliers ahead 46-44. But Bowman scored shortly after to give the Bulldogs the lead for good at 48-46.
Gonzaga led 36-31 at halftime.

San Bruno, CA - LMU senior Cassady Moore has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week for December 1-7, the conference office announced Monday. Moore is the first Lion to receive the honor this season and the first non-Gonzaga player recognized.
Moore (Long Beach, CA) was outstanding in LMU's two games last week, averaging 16.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 3.5 steals per game while shooting 56.5% from the floor. Moore opened the week on Wednesday with 10 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals in LMU's win at Cal Poly. She then had a career night on Saturday against UNLV, scoring LMU's first nine points of the game and finishing one assist and one rebound shy of the program's first-ever triple-double. She ended with 20 points, two off her career-high, plus career-highs of nine rebounds and nine assists to go along with four steals as the Lions defeated the Rebels for their sixth straight win.
Moore has been a big reason for the Lions' 7-1 start to the 2008-09 season, their second-best opening in program history. She has reached double figures in six of the eight games and is averaging 11.4 ppg, 5.4 rpg, and team-highs of 3.6 apg and 2.8 spg.
This is Moore's first career WCC Player of the Week award and she is the first Lion to be honored by the conference since Amanda DeCoud on February 11 of last season. Moore and LMU are on a week-long break for finals and will return to the court Sunday at 1 p.m. against Boise State.

Cassady is a terror on the opposing guards. She will still their cookies in a blink of an eye.
Great job Cassady.

Women's play the waves too! GO LIONS!
From the website- LMU has dominated of late, however, winning four of the last five and eight of the last 12 overall. The Lions have also come away with the victory in each of their last five trips to Firestone Fieldhouse. The teams split last year, with each winning on the road.

Candice must be playing now. I also heard that Mary Karros the freshman left the team. Let's go out and get a big time recruit.
Go Lions.

Glad to get the 'W' last night, but the score was too close against a bad Santa Clara team. We need to get mentally tougher. Next game is Sat vs. USF at 2. They are really bad this year. Lets come out and take care of business.
Go Lions

Just came from the LMU vs. USF women's game. Probably the worst I have ever seen LMU play. We just lost to a team that only had 5 wins all year. From start to finish we were flat out horrible. Julie did a piss poor job on every aspect of the game today.
This is gut check time Lady Lions. Your way too good for this type of disgusting loss.

Could have used Karros tonight...4 points out of the center position in two games against the bottom two teams in league.
