Another day another loss. I was really hopefully that we could break the losing streak at Malibu today. But turnovers and anemic shooting are not improving. This is a real shame for the coaches, players, and fans. We are not competitive, not in the slightest and that isn't fun for anyone (ok Pepperdine fans probably had some fun).
I liked how Sweezy was added into the starting lineup at the half. He maybe able to get more growth with the added playing time than Craig. D, OJ, and Deadwiler should be solid pillars for next season. We just cannot let the house burn down before that time comes.
We'll have time to avenge this loss February 23rd in Gersten and BTW the women beat Pepperdine soundly and now have beaten the waves 5 times in a row! Go lions!

I've been impressed the few times I saw Brad play. Not so much what he did but his intensity level was one notch higher than other players; I'd say the same about Ziri as well.
I am happy that RT finally went with smaller lineup. RT likes size on the court, it worked with matty and chris but not with current players. I am happy RT is willing to try out a lineup that's probably not in accordance with his coaching philosophy.

Just posting real quick to avert a future problem...
I'm WaveRunner over on the Pepperdine board, and please don't mistake this wavesrunner guy for me. Here or there.
See you guys again in a couple weeks.

I have waited to respond. I am just getting over the loss. Oh, what a loss it was. Dead3man in his post last week threw in the towl on the current season by saying that we will be competitive next year. Taking his words that I have to agree with. We are completely not competitive. We have a 4-17 record. Losing by 20+ to a team that had 0 conference wins before playing us, a coach that resigned a week before, and a team that is comparable to us in the youth factor. We were run out of the Fieldhouse. Not good. There is nothing else to say except that.
Pepperdine has play well since Walberg has left. I don't think it is a coincidence. The played strong against St. Mary's and Santa Clara. Maybe a move like that brings optimism to a program.
It seems as if the "Should he stay or should he go" poll has been locked by the administrator, but if we pull any conclusions (as of today) from that, it seems as if the MAJORITY (12 out of 18 responses) are not happy with Rodney Tention's coaching efforts this year and sceptical that the AD have a microscope on the situation for the current season and next year. That is clear. We will see how Husak and the administration deal with the reality. Stay tuned. About 42-45 days until the end of this season for our Lions barring a WCC March Maricle.

with most of the players on the team coming back next year, and all the young talent experiencing their first full season having to deal with the majority of the fans and the players already giving up on this season... how do we get the confidence back up to be competitors in 08-09?

Lionspride I want to clear up a point in your Quote where you have stated I threw in the towel for the season. Not true at all, I've thrown in the towel on this BOARD. I support the Lions, my son and the Staff that are getting it done. I will fulfill my special responsibility and stay away from this stuff. I hope that clears up my position to date. Good luck all posters, alum and fans but I'm going into quite mode so I can give my full support to the LMU Lions.

Daniel Johnson a talented Aussie big man, and Gus a walk on have quit the Waves. Addtionally, Brad Tinsley a four star recruit from Oregon has requested, and been granted a release from his letter of intent. Paul McCoy anthor four star guard is also in the process of getting his release. Our friend SHAMsud had only made a verbal agreement. No word on 3 star forward Paul George who had orginally commited to Santa Clara and ended up with Peppy. It will be who they will get as a coach and how he will build.

I think more than the recruiting what will hurt Brideland more is a sexual comment he apparently made at a dinner. Per the Peppy board the AD was not too happy with it.

That is what has been mentioned on the Peppy board. However, there is so much in fighting, rumors and back stabbing over there its hard to believe what is true and what is fact.

I want to see where these quality players will end up going. Those 4 star recruits were sought after.

Strange thing for me to say but you might actually be better off going into quiet mode here. Too many opinions here and some of them are downright irrational. I was actually at a point where I am not sure I will continue to make donation to the university. Maybe from now on, i will focus on institution-wide question only ....it's LMU that I support not just the basketball. So long, dead3man. Quiet as you may be, I know we've sucked you in on this board. ;D ....you can check out any time you like but you can't never leave....
