In the west coast rankings, Rudd is now ranked above Reeves Nelson(Ucla committ and the #32 recruit in the nation) and Brendan Lane(#64 recruit in the nation). He is elite.

The fact that he has stated he wants to stay local is huge for us. Otherwise there is no way we would get him. As lambda stated it would be nice to get him to commit before bigger names come sniffing around.

Other "big names" might still court him

What Victor has been up to this summer from Scout. Victor Rudd, 6-8 PF Van Nuys (Calif.) High. Rudd has all the ability in the world and when you see him on the right day you start thinking about him playing for money some day. Monday was one of those days. Rudd was drilling jumpers from deep, getting to the rim for dunks and making good decisions with the ball. He reportedly has some academic work to do, which might explain why there were very few high major schools watching him on Monday. But there’s no question he’s one of the elite talents in the 2009 class. With a more consistent and focused approach, he’s got a chance to be a big-time player someday. Bayno stay on him!

I think we might be focusing on trying to land Vinson.

I think we have a better shot at landing Rudd than Vinson. Those looking at Vinson are elite high-major schools while our competition with Rudd is just USC and their bball team is not in the best shape right now. I will be more than happy with either.

Either would be great...not sure I like the red flag about Rudd's academics.

Any aditional word on Rudd? Also, is it possible to correct the clock on this site?

oldestlion, changes have been made.
if you do not see a difference in your clock go to your profile and "modify it" you'll see the option to change your timezone to pacific or whatever timezone you are in. There is also a Daylight Savings box that needs to be switched to "Yes".

On scout still shows that we are co leaders for Rudd. An article just came out that said he is going to be putting recruiting on hold and has an offer from another pac 10 school. I don't have a scout subscription, but maybe someone with one could find out the rest.

Hey transfered to a prep school in NV. Has interest from Washington,UNLV,OregonSt, and USC. I'm not sure if we are after him any more. I think Vinson is the main target right now.

I'll be watching Rudd play several times this year. He'll be at Findlay Prep here in Las Vegas and I go to about a dozen games per year.
Like I said, keep an eye on Pump-affiliated players and the occasional player from powerhouse Findlay.
Cliff Findlay, a former UNLV basketball player from the 60's, founded the Prep School. This guy is loaded, owns most the auto businesses in Las Vegas. Anyway, he really believes in the Prep School concept. His son Robbie benefited from it playing for none other than Coach Good. Suffice it to say, Findlay and Good are very, very close. Findlay also likes Bayno.

It will be interesting what happens to Rudd. I haven't really heard his name being mentioned. I had read that he needs to get his academic in order...maybe this will happen at Findlay.
Rebelfan...congrats on all the successful recruiting UNLV has had lately. I heard that Edgar Garibay is headed to prep school in LV too. Have you heard of anything. I think we have a great chance of getting him.

Thanks. Things are really looking up for UNLV. A Sweet 16 two years ago, round of 32 last season, and very successful recruiting because of the tourney success. We've already wrapped up our 2009 class with some very good players, the types of players Kruger likes.
This year will bring rankings once again I'm sure. And I do think we are a legitimate Sweet 16 team with the dark horse ability to do more damage than that. I think we're a pretty well kept secret right now.
I'll tell you what, I wasn't initially overjoyed with the hire of Kruger. I felt he was a bad fit (not a bad coach). Vegas has its own set of unique obstacles to overcome. Kruger struggled his first two years and I didn't have alot of confidence. Even though my head and heart told me he couldn't get the job done, I deferred to somebody who knew alot more about basketball than myself. Coach Good. He told me to be patient, that Kruger was one of the best coaches around and he'd turn the ship at UNLV if the fans just give him a chance.
I'm glad I took his advice.
About Garibay, I know he says he's going to Findlay, but the latest I've heard is that it isn't going to happen.
Anyway, as I stated, I'll let you guys know how the Findlay guys are playing and if LMU is going after any of them, I can talk to them and see how they're feeling about the Lions.
