Derrick Jasper, 6-6, from Paso Robles CA is transfering out of Kentucky to be closer to home. He is a four star recruit on both Scout and Rivals. Ranked #9 PG when he came out of HS. Derrick playing guard would be awsome for the Lions. It would allow Davis and Teel to play the SG. I wonder if Coach Bayno and Levy have contacted Derrick. Scout: Big guard who has transformed himself into a play-making point guard. Does his best work when he's setting guys up. Can be a reluctant scorer and shooter but that's also a unique part of his game -- being unselfish and team oriented. High-major, Top 100 player. Go Lions PS. Only 211.63 miles between Westchester and Paso Robles.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky guard Derrick Jasper has asked for a release from his scholarship and will transfer, the school announced today.
Jasper’s request ends a six-week period during which his status at UK was uncertain. Wildcats coach Billy Gillispie announced on April 17 that Jasper was considering a transfer.
“The decision to transfer is in no way an indication of my experience playing for UK,” Jasper said in a statement released by the university. “I feel at this point in my life, it is important for me to be close to my family, and I intend to transfer to a school closer to the west coast where I can see my family more often, and they can see me play. “It was not an easy decision for me to make, since the fans have been so wonderful and very supportive of my teammates and me. I want to thank Coach Gillispie and the entire UK coaching staff for their guidance and support they have given me these past two years. I have grown a tremendous amount as a basketball player, and most importantly a person and feel it is largely due to the people involved with the UK basketball program.”
Jasper played in 20 games for the Wildcats this season after missing the first 10 games of the year while recovering from microfracture knee surgery. He averaged 4.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
“It’s a disappointment to lose Derrick, who was fantastic for us both as a person and a basketball player,” Gillispie said in a statement. “He had to battle through some injuries, but he was always willing to sacrifice for the good of the team.
“I appreciate that Derrick was patient and took his time to make certain that this decision was what he felt was best for his future. We wish him all the best. Where ever he decides to attend will be getting an outstanding player who takes his academics very seriously.”

Don't mean to demean your post ironlions, but i reported Jasper's transfer and the possibility of him coming to LMU two weeks ago.

Who is courting this guy? Would love to see our competition. I am pretty sure Bayno's going to give him a call. From what I can see the coach knows how to recruit and isn't intimidated by major programs getting in the way. ;D

Id say he's 95% to UNLV. His best friend, Tre'Von Willis, is a transfer from Memphis that's playing at UNLV next season. They played for EBO together.
You guys need to start looking at Pump Brother's basketball prospects. I think that's where you'll find some wealth. And you may find some at Findlay Prep school in Henderson Nevada. Even though they are only two years old, they are one of the premiere prep schools in the country (were undefeated last year before losing in the Prep Finals).
Findlay's roster features players that will all end up D1. In fact, one of their players will be at Fullerton and I think he's an absolute steal. His name is Jacques Streeter. Very nice player that went under the radar. In fact, I think J. Levy was responsible for his signing at Fullerton. It's too bad that process didn't take a little longer so LMU could have snatched him up.

The Foxsports guy has mentioned UNLV. With this friendship with Tre'Von it makes sense now.
