Bakersfield records isnt' that hot. But boy did they play well against us. This still doesn't excuse a loss to them. Perhaps if we played better D the wouldn't have lit us up like a Christmas tree.
The Roadrunners had one of their best shooting efforts in its history, going 36-for-60 from the field (60 percent) and 9-for-13 from the three-point line (69 percent).
Go Lions.

Some of these reactions are absolutely baffling. "We shouldn't lose to Bakersfield bc we're D-1 and they're not" and "We're LMU, Building Champions" etc.--First off, "we're" not entitled to anything. You really think Bakersfield was quaking in their boots when they saw us come to town? They were amped bc they had a D-1 team in the crosshairs.
Lose to Dominguez Hills, everything's a-ok. Rebuilding, etc. Lose to Bakersfield 6 weeks later, let's blow everything up, tar/feather Husak, RT, AND Lawton, and clear Kwame early so he can run the point.
Get some @$!#ing perspective.

Are you BLIND lmutex and not seeing the words you write....things are not getting better. We lose to a DII in DH and get blown out 6 weeks later by DII Bakersfield. YOU GET SOME _________ PERSPECTIVE. It is your rationalizing attitude that prevents us from making an impact with LMU administration to make changes. Did you not read my other posts (LMU vs. Bakersfield). Does that say it ALL? If that doesn't impact you, nothing will. P.S. If you look at Bakersfield schedule...they are consistently playing DI schools (this is because they are in the five year transitionary phase). They lost to Pepperdine and got crushed by St. Marys. Get a clue dude!

The correct response to a terrible loss is to get freak out.
Right.

Lionspride-
Yes, I read your posts. I don't come on here blindly making unfounded accusations. At least not when I'm sober.
Furthermore, I don't think calling me out as a fan is the answer to our problems. My attitude has nothing, NOTHING, to do with the future of this program.
This isn't colonial India, and you aren't Mahatma Ghandi. If you want to hold your breath until you go blue to demand change, then (literally) knock yourself out. If you want to pull an Andy Duphrene and write a letter to Lawton every day, go for it.
I'm not rationalizing this loss. I didn't see the game, but obviously it was a pathetic effort from both the coaches and players. Having said that, it's completely ridiculous to take a vigilante stance and demand the AD/Coach fired after a poor start, with a team that has 3 upperclassmen on the roster, with one as a walk-on. Hence my message of patience.
I, for one, believe that there are smarter men than some message board dorks (myself included) running this program.
But now I do have a clue, lionspride. I'm clued in to what a fan(atic) really means.

I like your response lmutex. We will have to agree to disagree. I know I cannot convience you that change needs to occur, let alone writing a letter to Lawton following up on his convocaton words about the Athletic Department. Fair enough. My reaction was not over one game, but the lack of potential I see with the program and the direction we are heading. The only hope is 2009-2010 and that is only a hope with much unknown.
Now that being said, let's cheer on our LIONS on Saturday and hope for another surprise win agains Gonzaga.
Go Lions!

We need to hold up signs like:
DRUG TEST AT THE DOOR PLEASE
MUSHROOM HEAD
HIGHtvelt
We Lions Fan need to pound on HIGHtvelt
Bring all the signs you can. If we don't win, at least we will have fun getting under their skin. Maybe we can rattle them a bit and cause a miracle. I am down for that.
