I've been thinking about the possibilities with our current roster this year and i wanted 2 know who u think Bayno will start.
I'm thinking
PG- Jarred Dubois SG- Vernon Teel SF- Ashley Hamilton PF- Kevin Young C- Tim Diederichs or Marco Deric
6th man- Laron Armstead
Ron told me that JD, Him, Ashley, Tim or Marco, and Kevin are gonna start (or at least thats what he thinks)
What is ur projected starting line-up?
Also, i can't wait till next year when we dominate with this line up
PG- Jarred Dubois SG- Larry Davis SF- Ashley Hamilton PF- Drew Viney C- Edgar Garibay
with Vernon Teel, Laron Armstead, Tim Diederichs, Kevin Young, and possibly others (Terrell Vinson? Victor Rudd?) off the bench. We'll easily be able to go 9 or 10 deep.

I will leave this one to the hard working players and coaches to decide who best fits the starting roles. I am interested in seeing what Bayno will do with Marco Deric. Marco can be very effective in the "perfect" system. I would like to see Terron develop under Max Good and Bill Bayno. Terron could be a moster if he wanted to. The size is there. The heart and making those skills flurish may be the question. Terron may be my pick for most improved player of the four returning players.
I like when we have a choice of solid talent (unlike former years). You are right, next year we will go very very deep. We will be THE FORCE of the WCC.

This year will be a great improvement. Next year should be a GREAT season, but can you guys even imagine the year after that??
Everyone from the year before, plus an extra year of experience. Also all the new recruits Bayno will bring in.
The Future is bright.

I think there might be a possibility that Bayno goes a little more athletic with the starting lineup. Move Armstead into the 3 and push Hamilton to 4 and Young to the 5. That would be a young and smallish lineup, but you have to like the quickness and defense.

I would bet the starting lineup will be something like this.
PG- Dubois SG- Vernon Teel SF- Hamilton PF- Young C-Diedrichs
We need Diedrichs in there to rebound. I think we would be too small without Diedrichs starting at least until they fatten up Young a little bit. I could see him changing this around depending on matchups but I would guess this would be the most consistent starting 5. We have someone who can run the point in Dubois, a pure scorer in Vernon Teel, athletic guy with hops in Hamilton ( I will enjoy watching the alley oops with Hamilton and Young) Shotblocker and athletic big man in Young. And just a solid low post threat with more of a body in Diedrichs. The expectations are high this year and for years to come under Bayno.

Go Lions I do not agree with Diederichs providing much rebounding assistance. If last year was any indication, Diederichs plays ONE side of the ball. Defense is not Diederichs strong suit. His rebounding needs major improvement along with his defense. If simply want defense, a big body, and rebounding, I would go with Marco Deric (has the experience and is able to shoot from the floor) or Terron Sutton (sutton avg. 2.5 rebounds in 11 minutes per game last year and can also bang bodies down low). If you want a quicker body to run the floor, go with Diederichs. Coach Bayno's call, but defense and rebounding (based on last year's performance) is NOT Diederichs' strong suit and that is a major understatement. A 3.4 avg. rebounds a game when playing 26.7 minutes a game DOES NOT CUT IT. I am very adamant about Diederichs inability to play both ends of the floor. In my opinion, Diederichs was given way too much credit by most of this board last year. 26.7 minutes he logged a game last year with 3.4 rebounds a game is simply pathetic for a forward (especially when he was the tallest LMU player on the floor most of the time). Many times I saw Diederichs just trying to "cherry pick" last year. On the defensive end, Diederichs was MANHANDLED by USF, Arkansas-Little Rock, and Gonzaga's front line last year. Timmy needs to learn how to play BOTH ends. And he will have to learn that or Coach Bayno will have him sitting the pine. We will see what Diederichs shows early on.

Not so sure I would characterize it as cherry picking because that would insinuate an offensive strategy on Diederichs part and the only strategizing he was engaged in was whether it would be better to catch his breath in the backcourt or in the frontcourt.
I’m convinced, or at least I’ve convinced myself to believe, that if Bayno has his player’s in top-shelf condition, as he promised at the press conference to announce his hiring, Diederichs should be able cross that half court line every time, tattoos and all, placing himself in a preferable position to check his man and to find the ball, or the ball to find him, on the defensive board at a loftier rate than this past season or at least at loftier rate than Terron Sutton.

If that was the case, he was "winded" 3 minutes into the game and our infamous coach Tention allowed this behavior for about 20+ minutes during the game keeping Deiderichs in. Last year was horrific....no team concept...individual stat stuffing...with forwards who could not rebound and guards that could not shoot the backside of a barn and pass worth a crap. It is not surprising that most of our former players have ended up at D2 or D1 "provisional" schools. We only had about 4 players that even possessed "D1" potential skills and I only think two of those players started for us last season. With that being said, it is AMAZING what recruiting and work Bayno has done thus far. Just Say Bayno!
