www.smmirror.com/MainPages/DisplayArticleDetails.asp?eid=8933 Brandon Worthy, a 6-foot-2 guard from Loyola Marymount University, has been selected by the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the NBA Development League’s annual draft.
Worthy will join the D-Fenders in their upcoming training camp and is likely to make the team’s roster. The D-Fenders play home games at Staples Center as preliminaries to Laker games and many graduates of the league have advanced to the NBA.
Worthy was one of the best guards in the West Coast Conference the last two seasons until an injury cut his senior year short. In his absence the Lions limped to a dismal season and a coaching change was made.
Both Loyola and Pepperdine, which also has a new coach, hope to improve significantly this season.

Congrats to B. Worthy. My hope is that he breaks into the NBA. Darren Cooper is also on the L.A. D-FENDERS. As you may recall, Cooper was a guard for the Portland Pilots. B. Worthy is much much much much better than him.

Even a 10 day contract would be cool to see.

Brandon is in Germany top league on a ten day tryout. His first game was very good. 12 pts, 2 assts, 3 stls, got to the line 7 times making 6 and 3-4 from the field. All in 20 minutes. He's competing against a kid from NC Greensboro for the job. Looks like he will stick and he can make some GOOD $$$ in that league. www.eurobasket.com/team.asp?Cntry=GER&Team=133

here's the full scoop
Hickman and Worthy undergo trials with Giessen 46ers - Nov 21, 2008 (by Moritz Korff) The LTi Giessen 46ers (1. Bundesliga) have handed ten-day trials to Ricky Hickman (190-G-83, college: NC-Greensboro) and Brandon Worthy (188-G-84, college: Loyola Marymount). The Bundesliga side is in need of a back-up for the guard position. The club-officials will decide by the end of the tryout period whether to sign one of the two candidates. Hickman averaged 19 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 11 games for the Romanian team CS Otopeno Bucuresti in this past season. Last weekend he played a single game for the second team of BG Goettingen in the 2. Regionalliga and contributed 20 points to a win over local rival ASC Goettingen. Worthy completed his collegiate career at Loyola Marymount (NCAA1) in 2007. He tallied 18.5 points, 4.5 boards and 3.7 assists as a senior. He was recently drafted by NBA D-League's Los Angeles Defenders.

Thanks, Raynman. If you keep track of how he is doing, please post.
Does anyone know his e-mail address?

Unfortunately Brandon was released from Giessen yesterday. I know never to try to understand European basketball. It is all about who fits the teams profile best. They kept Ricky Hickman. I remember sitting with the Montgomery family a few years back. They were going on about how tough Europe is, just a real meat market. I am sure BW will turn up somewhere again very soon and will be very successful.
