Players:
V. Teel- B+. Carried team on his back for most of the game. Only negatives were foul trouble and FT shooting. He needs to be on the floor to be successful.
J. Dubois- C+. Decent debut for the frosh. Had good and bad moments. For first college game certainly encouraging.
L. Armstead- C. Again had moments of brilliance and came on in second half after adjusting in debut.
A. Hamilton- C. Another promising debut. Needs to stay out of foul trouble as well. Certainly the future is bright for him as well.
K. Young- D. Looked lost at times but gets a pass since it was his debut. Will need to improve on both ends of the floor.
C. Counts- D. Hard worker and team guy. Simply a liability on the floor though.
B. Sweezy- F. Just not on the same level athletically as other players on the floor.
M. Deric- F. See above.
T. Deiderichs- Incomplete. Concern that this may be a lost season as his shoulder injury could severely limited. Could get lost in shuffle.
Coach Bayno- D-. Never adjusted to three-point shooting. Offense outside Teel was abysmal (lack of assists is a concern).
Avoids a failing grade because it was the first game only.
Offense- F. 51 points is not going to beat many people. Hideous 3-point and FT shooting should be focal points of practices.
Defense- D-. Probably should be an F as Panthers were raining threes virtually unstoppably all game. However, they did have a few stretches that showed promise.
Overall: D-. Being the first game with players completely void of college experience, it was not expected to be smooth. Lots of grit was shown and certainly physical talent, but the way the team folded when Teel left has to be of some concern.
