Well, we know Bayno (get well soon) won't be at the Wagner game, but does anyone know if Teel traveled and/or will play?
Without Teel (and Diedrichs, whom it was said on the Prime Ticket telecast could be redshirted), we would be down to just eight players in uniform, right?

I read somewhere on here that he broke his pinky toe. I doubt he will play for a few weeks at least. My guess Tim is probably out for the year too.

Wagner is one of our winnable games this year. Without Teel, Bayno and Diedrichs that will be much tougher. Teel has been playing great this year, it is a real bummer he was hurt. I wish Teel a speedy recovery too.

I think that 2008/9 is about to be known as LMU's "lost year".
I also wonder what the NCAA D1 record is for starting the most walk-on players. I think we can give it a go! Come On Griffin!

Yep Lionsfan88 is right. According to lmulions.com Leading scorer, rebounder and assist man Vernon Teel broke his right foot against the Irish and will be out four to six weeks.
The info I had was from Vernon's facebook which says he is going to be out for the season. I think that the coaches are going to have him apply for a Medical Redshirt which is probably smarter in the end. We are going to be more than fine just so Bayno is 100% next year. We are going to have a rough year, but that is alright just so the optimism stays high. Bayno will be back, Teel will be stronger after a year of practice and there no reason why we cannot have an outstanding year next year.

Thanks for the updates. I agree. It would be very prudent to redshirt Teel at this point. This will force the eight remaining players to have to take more shots and, therefore, improve the overall depth of the program for the future.
So, in theory, our five probable starters for next year (Vinson, Garibay, Viney, Davis, and Teel) are not going to play another minute this year. Boy, we will have a tremendous bench in 2009-10.
I know this is a lost year, but we realistically cannot play the rest of the season with only eight players. Is there a way to add a few more walkons?
Get well Bayno and Teel. DuBois, Hamilton, and Young, the ball is in your court. Run with it!

Splitting hairs, but I count nine players minus Teel and Deiderichs:
1) Counts 2) Deric 3) Armstead 4) Dubois 5) Hamilton 6) Kanne 7) Reilly 8) Sweezy 9) Young
That is assuming Reilly is healthy and can play, which I have no idea or know anything about him other than what I have read here.

Lets hope that it is a quick 4 to 6 weeks. I know this may be really pushing it...but maybe we could get him back by UCLA? It's a really long streach, but we can dream right?

The upside to this injury (if there is one) is the team will have no choice but to rally and play hard and the four young guys will have to step their games up and mature quicker.
I think we saw some evidence of this against the Irish as Sweezy, of all people, became a fighter and played with emotion, and Dubois stepped into the role as the go-to guy. Saw some really good things from Hamilton as well, playing against Harangody showed him how far he needs to come and by the end of the game he was stepping up as well.
