I don't have to open the link. I know who it is. You didn't even have to clue me that he's a senior.
This is who he's going to be. His #s are consistent with his previous 3 years. He prob would've lost minutes if Sutton were healthy. Its obvious that the coaches aren't pleased, but who the @$!# else can they put out there.
Corey, on the other hand, has just been nails.

Rodney did a fabulous job recruiting D2 players, this senior is a great examlple. He is just so soft, he cannot compete at this level. At first blush he is what we need, a lean big with senior leadership. But then you see him on the floor fading away at point blank range, slapping defenders, and going all goosey for rebounds. I hope he is getting it done in the classroom and is somehow making use of the 100k plus education he got. It is just another depressing chapter in a very long 2 season saga. I'll be over there crying if anyone needs me.

There is definitely no sticking up for this player. HOWEVER, I will say that Marco was a decent complement to Matty Knight on the inside. Marco does his best when there is a commanding post player on his team and he can hit an open 10-12 ft. jumper when the post player is double teamed.
Agree that Rodney ;D did a great job recruiting D2 players. But I think this one fell in his lap because of Matty and Demo's Australian connections.

Yes, Tention inherited Deric from the Byron Jenson-Australia connection. It's too bad that pipeline was disabled...Jenson (a la Aggers) did a great job getting Knight and Martin.
However, speaking of Tention, Kwame Vaughn just made a layup for USF against USC...

Well, seeing as how I graduated with the same major that Marko's in right now, maybe I can email a couple professors and see if they can light a fire under him...

I would rather have you in the line up LMUpepbander. I'm sure you could average at least more boards.

Not defending Marko's play, but you should gain an interesting perspective by putting yourself in his shoes... (and some insight to LMU Basketball)
1) He's recruited be a coaching staff that two of his fellow countrymen love and run through walls for (they were great kids, odds are they'd play hard with anyone loyal to them)... He commits. Those coaches get fired and he's in limbo. 2) Gets re-recruited by the new staff and develops a relationship and commits to them... 3) Then they get fired... 4) His teammates get run-off to free scholarship space, and he is kept because he is a senior, a decent big, and a guy who will graduate and help their APR scores... (Knowing the future of LMU basketball they are going to need a high APR score so they don't lose future scholarships with academic woes.) 5) A brand new team is brought in, many to play when he's no longer around (transfers)... and some of their "scholarship" players have never been on scholarship before (and you criticize Tention for giving scholarships to D-II players!).
I'm not sure if Marko was ever recruited to be "the" guy... But he's been "recruited" three different times so who knows how he was recruited......

I'm saying... understand the phsyche of a 18-22 year old who has been lied to by an institution a number of times. This is where I'm with lionspride (not to drag him in to this) but the problem is an institutional problem. You expect him to play hard when they give scholarships to walk-ons to help APR and to guys who can't play for another year. When they don't try all that hard to keep OJohnson... and others who he's played with for 3 years.

I greatly appreciate when people on this board understand my positions on issues. Guest...you mention the institution has lied to Deric. What is even more mindboggling is that the institution let its fans feast in the limelight of that Notre Dame/LMU game KNOWING FULL WELL that they had approved a Bayno Leave of Absence. Instead the administration takes the convenient road to not address the situation until after the big game. Taking the fan base for a ride. A proper holiday analogy would be it is like having Christmas Eve dinner with your family and you are a young kids who is excited to get gifts under the tree the next day. The parents go along with the kids excitement on Christmas Eve night, but when Christmas morning comes....no gifts under the tree for little Johnny. However, on Christmas morning the parents tell little Johnny that Santa did not come to the house because he was a bad boy. AKA...Bill Husak to the LMU Basketball fans and boosters. "Out of convenience" is what I do not respect. I am not asking to see Bayno's personal or health records, but instead simply asking for timely release of the "Leave of Absence" information. That Leave of Absence was approved prior to that Notre Dame game (most likely before Wednesday that week). Husak sat on that egg.

I expect him to play hard because he is getting a over 100,000 K education. In regards to giving scholarships to walk ons- Corey has busted his butt and was our best player on the court at times last year. Something he is doing again now when we need him to step up. What do you mean about giving scholarships to guys who can't play for another year? That is a what is called a transfer... Right now we have have two top 100 in the nation waiting to suit up for us. Would you rather have Quentin Turner still on the bench (average 7ppg at a D2 school)
I liked OJ a lot and wish he was still on the Lions. However, with him demanding certain players to stay on the roster I was happy to tip my hat to him and wish him well.
Eat some Vegemite, suck it up and start banging Deric!

Please, no QT....QT is an example of Mr. Tention's NAIA recruitment abilities.
Deric, whether you have been lied to, mislead, gone through three transitions, I don't care. You are still on the team by your choice. You could quit if you did not like it. But instead you stay. Don't quit on the basketball floor. As ironlions says, SUCK IT UP and BANG with the BIG BOYS. We need you. Own your position.
