It seems there isn't much to do up in Wyoming.

The cowboys are big and love to take it to the hoop in order to generate fouls. Our success will be governed by our ability to keep them out of the paint, avoid anyone geting two fouls early, taking care of the ball, milking the clock and playing strong transition defense. Oh - we also have to score.
Wyoming will bring their conference officials with them, just as Notre Dame brought theirs. We will not get any breaks.

First and foremost props to Deric. He really stepped up tonight. It would have been really nice to get this game but with so few players its just such a challenge. I'm really impressed with our freshman. They are really talented and play hard. As I said before I think we will start to win some games as soon as Teel and Hamilton are back we will start to win some games.

Great crowd came out. The freshmen continue to play hard. Wish we could just get that win so they can really celebrate. A good effort.

Just going off the box score here a few thoughts: -If nothing else we should be in top cardio with the minutes everyone is forced to play. -Pretty hideous shooting percentages as around. Don't know if that was the product of defense or shot selection. -Solid numbers from what I will call the Big Three at this point (Armstead, Young, Dubois). In reality they are the only ones that will play roles in the future of the program, so I tend to look at their numbers with a little more scrutiny. Seems they are developing as players, showing improvement, and getting valuable experience. Pretty much all we can ask for right now. -Good to see Deric contributing. I've been as hard on him as others on here, but hope he takes advantage of all this playing time in his last year and sets himself up to play somewhere overseas after school. -Two stats stand out. 36-35 rebounding advantage over what I assume is a big Wyoming squad (seems they always have some Redwood-like foreigners on the squad). 8 turnovers is the other stat that is applaudable . - I don't know where we stand in the national standings as far as offensive scoring but it has to be near the bottom. We haven't gotten out of the 50's yet, something we didn't expect at the beginning of the year.

Just going off the box score here a few thoughts: -Pretty hideous shooting percentages as around. Don't know if that was the product of defense or shot selection. There is no real offensive system. Wyoming played zone and we had trouble all night beating it. We have no slashers to make the D collapse for an open kickout 3-pointer so we settled for a ton of contested shots. The good news.... We got a ton of offensive rebounds (KY has serious heart going up against guys 50 pounds heavier) that were converted. The bad news... In crunch time NOBODY wanted to take the big shot.

- I don't know where we stand in the national standings as far as offensive scoring but it has to be near the bottom. We haven't gotten out of the 50's yet, something we didn't expect at the beginning of the year. According to the statsheet we rank 331st in offensive production. I believe there are only 340 schools on that list. I'm happy that we really hung in there with a veteran team. Score by Periods 1st 2nd Total Wyoming....................... 30 32 - 62 Loyola Marymount.............. 24 31 - 55 Points in the paint-WY 24,LMU 22. Points off turnovers-WY 13,LMU 13. 2nd chance points-WY 4,LMU 17. Fast break points-WY 6,LMU 0. Bench points-WY 8,LMU 0. Score tied-5 times. Lead changed-6 times. Last FG-WY 2nd-00:00, LMU 2nd-04:34. Largest lead-WY by 11 2nd-16:01, LMU by 5 1st-09:55. Our men's team and women's team are on opposite spectrum so far this season. We just cannot get the points from many places. I was happy to see Deric contribute. We need him, Counts, and the freshmen to all be on the same page offensively and then the wins will come.
