UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS COMMUNICATION 101 I guess Mississippi State Athletic Administration must not follow the LMU "mums the word" mentality about personal medical conditions of their head men's basketball coach. sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/basketball/ncaa/12/15/stansbury.ap/index.htmlFunny thing in the communications business.....when releasing a press release, you answer the fours "W" - who, when, where, why. That Miss. St. presser is as direct as it gets. Kudos to their team. Without all the "W"s answered, you lend yourself to speculation or you are hiding something on purpose. LMU Athletic Communications left off the "why" in the Bill Bayno leave of absence press release. I'm still waiting for it.....as are the rest of the LMU fans. For all of you on this board that are not behind the timely release of information, you best check yourself at the keyboard. This is a prime example how other universities handle crisis management. LMU continues to fumble the ball. Just as we demand excellence on and off the field with our student-athletes, we should demand the same from the LMU Athletics Administration and its Communications and Media Relations area. Let's get someone in there that knows how to write pressers and no puppets to the AD. Another one of those reasons why LMU is the best kept secret.....University communication lacks considerably. Get will soon Coach Stansbury.

As someone who has written numerous press releases, for multiple corporations, I just want to state that you have no idea what you are talking about. None.
And, since when is a migraine and flu-like symptoms an in-depth diagnosis? It could be a sign of meningitis, or he could be hung over.
I could elaborate more about your divorce with reality, but I don't feel so well. Do you have any theories as to why I haven't told you more about my illness?
You're an idiot.

lmutex, reality is reality. Facts are the facts.
There is obviously a major disconnect when one university feels it vital to provide more information on a migraine and flu-like symptoms than another university not providing as much information on their presser about a coach taking an indefinite Leave of Absence from the program. Major difference in philosophies. Miss. St. is being honest, forthright and timely releasing information about their Head Coach.

The apparent honesty shown by the Mississippi State Athletic Department is refreshing. Maybe it is something else, but at least they make us believe that it is flu like symptoms and a migraine. In LMU's case, they left the door too wide open to speculation.
My take: MSU - honesty LMU -cover-up
Just my two-cents.

Husak needs to come clean, dang HIPAA........ It's time for the truth and not from the players or Facebook.

Well, a little delay (b/c of my two week ban on this board) in this information and take on our Bill Bayno LOA. But Crazycagegirl is right on!!!!! IF you watched Fox Sports Net telecast of the LMU vs. Seattle University game, the Bill Bayno subject came up a few times. Half way through the second half, Kevin Calabro, FOX Sports Net announcer and former Seattle Supersonic announcer, made the following comment: "LMU is going through a difficult period now. Their head coach, Billy Bayno, after four games into the season took a Leave of Absence for mysterious medical reasons. The University would not comment further and are being extremely and uncommonly tight lipped about the situation." I think even a third party persepective that Kevin Calabro brings to the table is quite interesting and ON THE SPOT. LMU is making a critical PR error and brushing this Bill Bayno LOA under the rug for the time being. Let's address the issue and move on. Cloud of speculation hovers over the buff and how we run our program. Husak needs to make up his mind. Cut the cord and address the issue with the public OR address the issue, provide a TENTATIVE TIMELINE of return, and stand by Bayno. Either one works for me. Time is up. HUSAK needs to act and act now. Conference is upon us and we have one win against a transition D2 to D1 school. UNACCEPTABLE. Answer the questions Husak. It is not going to get any easier in conference. We are all but assured to end the season with the same or worse record than last year. NO PROGRESS. I need all of you to make your New Year's resolution on this board to be objective. Pop the cork for the 1st win against CSUBakersfield, but don't drink so much to avoid the problems at hand. That win does not wash away all the inequities of our current situation. It's Jan. 5 and NO TIMELINE FOR A RETURN? Unacceptable. [This is my first post as my ban has been lifted after two weeks (I have a big beef with the ban on honest free speech...I will address later in another posting) and it is a NEW YEAR, but the SAME ME...Bigger and Better. It is QUITE REDICULOUSLY AND IRONIC that Fanblade, who administers this board, was quoted on this board during my FORCED LOA as requesting or hoping for a more "specific timeline" on a Bayno return. I got run off this board for asking this about 5 times over a two week period. Instead I get run like I am a cursing Bob Knight style poster. Let's be fair in the future. ]
