Our progress will be put to the test against the Aztecs. SDSU will be coming into Gersten 5-1. They are coming off a loss to CAL. Their wins aren't over too impressive teams. I don't know much about their team, but believe they have a transfer from Louisville Lorenzo Wade that is good.
I think if we can limit turn overs and use the momentum of the Mercer win we will be in a good position to win.
Go Lions! ;D

They've got a good coach, and have been steadily improving over the last 5-ish years. I believe they've even gone to the NCAA tournament like 3 of the last five years....
Also, in the loss against Cal, they were tied with about 3 minutes to go, before they panicked and started shooting (and missing) 3's every time down the court while Cal stuck to running plays and making free throws.
That game was closer than the score, I thought, so we've got our hands full with this one.

Unfortunately the mtn will not be televising this game. So the dozen or so fans out there getting that channel will be missing out. Go Lions!

Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers.
I think RT sums it up in the release...
"The tougher team won tonight, flat out," said Head Coach Rodney Tention. "They wanted it more. I am embarrassed about our performance at home. This was not the team that had been progressing the last four games. In our two games at home, we have looked terrible. I know we are better than this."
Lions have to shake this off and prepare for a feisty UCSB.

I didn't expect us to win, but this is still a very embarrasing lost.
The game was pretty much decided in the first 10 mins of the game. Once they opened up a gap, our team just played catch up the rest of the game.
I am sorry to say this but our team looked soft out there. The aztecs basically just had a flesh party, picking up the meat and BBQ us. We weren't even competitve at all. Very sad.

GHF, Wade is their best players. I believe he played and Louisville then transfered. Their center Amoroso (sp?) was good to. However, it could have to do with our piss poor post play. They have two short and very quick guards. They are talented but I think the team chemistry is pretty bad. Everyone had a scowl on their face the whole time, epically Wade.
We cut it to ten at one point, that was only highlight. I was expecting a improved team but it didn't' happen last night.
Go Lions.

Wow. Some Good, Bad, and Ugly thoughts on my first game of the year.
Good: -Deadwiler seems to have gained confidence in his outside shot. Don't think he should be point, though. Better off designing plays so he can get his shot. -Orlando is a large mammal. For a true freshman, he's physically ready, and I really like his game. Reminds me of a poor man's Carmelo with inside/outside threat. -Um, parking was ample?
Bad- -Leadership. This goes for both players/coaches. So many uncontested layups/dunks. I would have appreciated that if someone drove baseline, there'd be a hard foul, at least to send a message. Alas.
Ugly- -This team is lost offensively. No spacing whatsoever. Blame goes directly to Coach T for this. It was mentioned that SDSU had some young players, but they were moving the ball exceptionally well around the perimeter. I counted 9 passes w/o a dribble on one possesion. It looked as if we hadn't practiced a motion offense all season. Plus, I didn't see one play called from the sideline. -We need athletes. They out-quicked and -muscled us, which can be deterred by superior coaching and execution. Not with 20+ turnovers. -On the court, I can't tell who the freshman, and who the lone upperclassmen are. Ziri/Deric just look like their going through the motions. I know they're trying their hardest, but it's not working.
I'd love to eat some crow, but this season is going to be pretty, pretty, ugly.
