Sadly, womens basketball star Mikah Maly-Karros left LMU last year under difficult circumstances. She will resurface next year at UC Irvine and is considered one of the best post players in women's college basketball. What happened? Attention deficit disorder, which has a problem with any overstructured situation, and immaturity led to her departure. Her high school coach compensated but it didn't work at LMU. Today's Daily Breeze has the full story and the interview with Mikah. www.dailybreeze.com/sports/ci_12839760

She was pretty overrated. Not a big loss for us.

Maly-Karros is a stud...at 6'2 it will be apparent this year that we needed her rebounding ability. Some players do not practice well but come game time they become a dominating force. The coaches better be out recruiting some size because we are guard and wing loaded. Look for the girls to remain in the middle of the WCC pack, if we stay small.

The posts we have now are decent at best. There was several games last year where the opposing teams post players just dominated us i.e. Gonzaga at home. I'm not the biggest fan of Wilhoit but she can recruit pretty darn well. We need to get a great offensive post player.

Wilhoit needs to get us a good post player but Karros seemed like a loose canon. Can't really rely on that. Too bad it didn't work out wonder the gamble will work for UCI.

Mikah was a handful to coach in high school I've heard. When the coach had the team running wind sprints, she would sit down in the middle of the floor until the exercise was over. No doubt similar on-her-own behavior happened in practices, frustrating to coach and team. I never saw her play but understand she was a "stud" as lion4life noted. Sounds like UCI will give her the space she needs, and Mikah sounds like she is ready to accept some responsibility for her behavior on the court. I hope it works out for her - ADD is a difficult disease to live with.
