Another good post into the WCC. We need size to be able to compete the next few years. These are not just big girls these schools are getting, they are impact bigs. Lets get going coaches!!!
Stephanie Golden, a 6-foot-3 post from Orinda, Calif., committed to Gonzaga after an official visit last weekend, according to both her high-school and club coaches, Kelly Sopak of Miramonte High and Michele Massari of NorCal Elite.
Ranked No. 18 at her position by ESPN HoopGurlz, Golden chose Gonzaga over Oregon State, to which she also took an official visit, according to both coaches.
Golden has canceled visits to UC Santa Barbara, UNLV and Washington, her coaches said.

I agree. We really need to stack up some impact players if we want to keep up with USD and Gonzaga.

Another 5'10 G/F is just what we needed. This is really hard for me to understand.
Two sport star Melinda Gomez picks LMU Melinda Gomez, the 5-foot-10 guard from West Covina, Calif., has given her verbal commitment to Loyola Marymount University, according to her West Coast Premier director Brian Crichlow.
Gomez is a two-time All San Gabriel Valley First Team selection, All CIF Second Team and South Hills High School team MVP as a junior. She has similar accolades in volleyball with MVP and All SGV selections a year ago. She will be focusing solely on basketball at LMU.

This would have been a better choice for our program in terms of need.
Danielle Mauldin, F
Benicia, CA
Saint Marys H.S.
Scouts Grade: 84
Position Rank: 54 Danielle Mauldin bound for Saint Mary's, again Danielle Mauldin, the 6-foot forward from St. Mary's High School in Stockton, Calif., has made her college choice and it has a familiar ring to it. The Benicia, Calif., native has given her verbal commitment to St. Mary's College of California and head coach Paul Thomas. The commitment was confirmed by her St. Mary's High School head coach Nathan Fripp.
Mauldin, an explosive forward, is the first commitment for the Gaels in the 2010 class. Early signing period is Nov. 11-

Does anyone have the attendence for each of the teams in the WCC.
Look at some of Gonzaga's games this year. South Dakota State, USC, Washington, Stanford, Baylor, Texas AM , UCSB. They will have been tested and ready for the WCC.

I believe the Zags women team is ranked in the top 20. The head coach is a real a-hole.

This is a local girl that we needed to get to get over the middle of the WCC pack.
Kody Burke, a 6-foot-1 forward from Sherman Oaks, Calif., has given a verbal commitment to North Carolina State and new head coach Kellie Harper, according to her FBC club team director Ray Mayes.
Burke, a senior at Notre Dame High School, also considered Arizona State, Boston College, Colorado and Notre Dame.
"Kody Burke is a very versatile (forward) with an excellent skill set," Mayes said. "Kody keeps defenses off balance with her quick feet and soft touch with either hand. Kody has the ability to knock down the three and get to the cup off the bounce. With multiple counters in the paint Kody is very tuff to defend."
Burke was teh Mission League MVP as a junior averaging 21.5 points, 15 rebounds and 5.4 blocks per game and led her team to its first ever CIF Championship

It looks like we have three seniors, so will have three scholarships. Our 2010 class is:
Melinda Gomez Hometown West Covina, CA High School South Hills High School Position rank Small Forward # 30 Height 5'10" ESPN: 89
Hazel Ramirez Hometown Huntington Park, CA High School Inglewood High School Position rank Point Guard # 39 Height 5'5" ESPN: 87
Alexis Love Hometown Norwalk, CA High School Norwalk High School Position rank Center # 33 Height 6'2" ESPN: 86
Courtney will also be eligible to play.
Courtney Collishaw Ht: 5-11 PPG: 22.6 Position: G High School: Redwood HS (Visalia, CA) Scout :Four Star recruit
A strong recruiting class but I still think we need a stud post player. We need to move someone to a academic scholarship to get the extra ride. I don't want to call out any names but I can think of three players off the top my head.
Here are some recruits we should go after:
Janae Coffee Hometown Fresno, CA High School Clovis West High School Position rank Center # 21 Height 6'3" ESPN grade: 89
Corrine Costa Hometown Discovery Bay, CA High School Liberty High School Position rank Center # 27 Height 6'4" ESPN grade: 88
Nicole Hung Hometown Los Angeles, CA High School Harvard Westlake High School Position rank Power Forward # 28 Height 6'0" ESPN grade: 90
Rhema Gardner Hometown Fontana, CA High School Ayala High School Position rank Small Forward # 22 Height 6'2" ESPN grade: 90

Hung is going to Stanford or Ivy League, but she is a two or three, we have a log jam already of that type of player. Love is a poject and Gomez will need time. Hazel will help but is very small and the WCC keeps getting bigger. The big girls mentioned would upgrade our program but I doubt if we will get them. After the dust clears we will get a big girl that is a project like most of the bigs this staff has gotten. What is dissapointing about your comment about moving a player to an academic scolorship is this. The current head and associate head have been here forever and already have had players go for various reasons,(not to mention names ) that would never have played. You would think the players you are recuriting are in your plans and will make your team better. The coaches did not have to take over another coaches players that do not fit the system they run. It is really pathetic if you ask me.

Sounds like you have some serious issues with the coaching staff Lion4Life. I think another sub par season and we should start looking for a new coach.

No issues ironlions, I just think it is time we start a winning tradition for both the Women and Men. While I can see the Men gaining some ground and recruiting decent talent from all over the place the Women seem a bit complacent. It is time to WIN and get to the Big dance year after year. I for one am tired of lossing. I come on this board to try and spark some interest in the program and get people involved. I am a fan of LMU basketball, if the coaches win I love them and if they don't I want them gone...simple as that.
