Ironlions, all your projected bigs for us are now taken!
Rhema Gardner, a 6-foot-2 wing ranked No. 22 in the country at her position by ESPN HoopGurlz, committed to UCLA, according to her club coach, Ray Mayes of FBC Blue.
The Ayala High School star from Chino Hills, Calif., also considered Maryland, Boston College, Louisville, Arizona State and Oregon, Mayes said.
"Rhema is a very long, ultra-athletic slasher who can finish at the rim over big bodies with her exceptional leaping ability," Mayes said."Her range extends to the arc and she is consistent from the elbow. Rhema boards everything with her quick hops, and wiry frame. At the defensive end Rhema is a shot blocker who has good timing and anticipation were she creates turnovers in the passing lanes."
Despite suffering a knee injury in the playoffs that held her out of the club season, Gardner was named first-team, all-CIF after her junior season.
Gardner is one of nine members of the FBC National Program to attend UCLA since 2003.
