ESPN Scouting Report Strengths: Davis is physical point guard with a Chauncey Billups type of frame. Due to his strength and solid handle, he can carry defenders on his hip and make plays with his head up. He is best in the open court where he separate from pressure and deliver the nifty assist. In the half court set he can break down defenders (strong crossover) and either finish through contact (hands in the air) or hit the pull-up jump shot. Weaknesses: Davis is a decent shooter, but that aspect of his game needs improvement. He has somewhat of a hitch in his shot and his elbow flairs a bit as well, but he can convert a couple per game. Defensively, he needs to show much more urgency. He has a tendency at times to not get back on defense after a turnover as well. Bottom Line: Davis is a definite Division I prospect at the lead guard position. If he can clean up his jump shot and develop a killer instinct at the defensive end, his future is bright.

If he is recruiting point guards that probably means Kyron Cartright is not coming. Just a thought. I have no information just an observation.

Sounds like Cartwright not coming... no worries. Still have Watson and maybe Davis in the mix though. Both are comparable to Kyron.
I am hearing good things about Elijah... hopefully we can hold onto him.

Davis is 6’2” 185 lb and has ESPN scouts grade of 65 – 2-star. Rated #57 in California at his position, #92 in nation. Has an alternative offer only from Penn State per ESPN (which is not always accurate). May be a step down from Cartwright but I like his size – perhaps that’s an indication of Denlap’s preferences regarding guards.

Fryer - hope you are right about Stewart.

There is also Watson from El Camino who is rated higher at PG. Fryer - you may be correct about Cartwright.

Also my guess is our new assistant from El Camino High has seen Davis play and likes him.

I. too, noticed Davis' size and wondered if Dunlap is going to favor taller PGs. I also noticed in the listed weaknesses were Davis' failure to always rush back on defense and his shot. I imagine Dunlap will look for players with qualities he likes AND deficiencies he feels confident that he can overcome with training.

I saw something that the Pine gal tweeted about Dunlap and Stewart on campus. I'm thinking there's a chance there.

Neither Davis nor Watson appears to be a true PG. Kyron is much more well rounded and looked like he might be able to carry the starting spot (like AI did his freshman year). I'm hoping we're just doing our due diligence and lining up some backup plans.
We have a lot of pieces sitting around but a PG is essential to anything we do. We've been really lucky to have AI for four years and life will get much more difficult simply bringing the ball up the floor, let alone running an offense and getting the ball to the right players in the right places.

Davis and Watson are more SGs. Kyron is a true PG...he isn't coming to LMU anymore.

With all due respect to Anthony--- i loved him as a player, one of my favorites ever----- he wasnt your prototypical pg either. He was more of a scoring guard, with point guard ball handling skills. I actually see more Ireland in Davis and Watson then I do in Kyron, who was not the best of shooters at this point in his career.

If Davis comes that may give us an inside track to his high school teammate Jimbo Lull which would be a huge get. Legit big man in the mold of Bill Laimbeer.
