Exciting to have something to blog about. Maybe ESPN is right about having the Lions back in the Big Dance? In any case, seems Dunlap is making up his own team. My judgement is reserved for now but I like what I've seen from this years recruit so far. Go Lions!

90045--- who are you referencing? What is your excitement based on? Just wondering.
And i did in fact see a big on campus last week. Close to 7 feet and walking around with one of the coaches.

Well we had a 6-10 athletic 3-star recruit but we couldn't get anything done. I won't be excited until Dunlap hires and offensive coordinator or something and moves into the next century.

That's great for him.
Not so great for the WCC. I wish him the best though. He's a good player.

Loyal lion I like all three guards we signed Johnson looks like he'll be a bull inside with his bulk Haney comes from Florida, which isn't an easy program to get into Jacko is a bit of an unknown but his size and early college results are encouraging Based on recruiting boards and videos I'm encouraged Knowing the difficult transition from JC and high school to D1 ball, I'm reserved I'm expecting more scoring from Hayes and steady all-around play from Humphries Hoping for more confident play from Petr That's the rationale for my post Plus the hope that the next two recruits will be good ones

Buay Tuach signs with Loyola Marymount per verbalcommits! Spiritofloyola was right! Beating out West Virginia and VCU is pretty damn impressive I have to admit and wonder how the WV guys are going to take this lol. On a scale of 1-5 on recruiting this year, I have to give Dunlap and staff a 3.8. Dunlap isn't pulling in 4 and 5 star recruits like Larry Brown did for SMU, but I'm quite impressed with the competition we're beating out (West Virginia, Butler, Utah state just to name a few). I'm bummed we lost Patson and especially Payne, so I'm cautiously optimistic like King and some of you, but if we're pulling in this kind of talent when we finished at the bottom of the WCC, what kind of talent can Dunlap pull if we're .500+? Rozelle Nix and Terrence Phillips were just a hair away from us too.
Backcourt play should be fun to watch next season. I want to be realistic and not hyped, and realize from the outside, the WV offer seemed messy. WV didn't have any scholarships available when they made an offer to Tuach, expecting someone from the roster to transfer. And head coach wasn't there to meet Tuach with the official visit. I bet Dunlap and staff had a piñata waiting for him when he arrived from LAX. Anyways, welcome to the Lions new recruits!

Not a lot of info on Tuach online. Below are some quotes from West Virginia board and/or fansites that provide some glimpes of the type of player Tuach is. Looks like a nice pickup for the Lions. Welcome Buay!
Buay Tuach, 6’5″ 175 lbs, is averaging 16.7 points per game for Northeast Community College (NE) and has been labeled as a physical offensive guard not afraid of contact around the rim but is shooting 39% from 3. The biggest surprise to his game is he finished this season averaging 6.5 rebounds per game.
Tuach has the body build and athletic ability that WVU loses in Williams, but is a much better shooter than Williams was.

Some news finally: Buay Tuach 6’5” SG has an offer from LMU. 2-star player. Tuach will be a Junior next season. Hometown: Omaha NE JC: Northeast Community College www.verbalcommits.com/conferences/west-coastOn Northeast website described as 6’6” 175. Looks like a broad shouldered young man in roster photo. (http://www.northeast.edu/Athletics/pdfs/2014-2015-MBB-Roster.pdf ) “ Profile”: Buay Tuach - 6’6” – SO – Omaha, NE – Guard Prep: Buay averaged 11.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game for the 23-3 South High School Packers. He was named 2nd Team All-Metro by omahahoops.com and was named Honorable Mention All-Metro and Honorable Mention All-State by the Omaha World-Herald. College: Buay appeared in every game as a freshman and recorded 29 starts. Tuach averaged 12.9 points and 4.1 rebounds a game as a freshman. Recorded a career high 20 points twice last season against Indian Hills Community College and ABCD Prep. He shot 38 percent from the three point line. Major: General Studies Parent: Nyibol Liem www.northeast.edu/Athletics/Mens-Basketball/Player-Profiles.aspxTeam compiled a 25-6 record last season. Tuach registered 16.7 ppg (third best on the team) averaging 25 minutes per game. www.dakstats.com/WebSync/Pages/Team/IndividualStats.aspx?association=14&sg=MBB&sea=JUCMBB_2014&team=17430 Re Tuach, you need to go to youtube.com and enter his name (with basketball) to find a few video clips. He seems long and lanky. Fairfax star Lorne Currie, Jr 6’2” 185 2-star SG has received an offer from LMU www.latimes.com/sports/highschool/la-sp-lorne-currie-sondheimer-20150306-story.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitterESPN Scouting Report not available now. Lorne Currie 6’3” 175 SG Scouts Grade 79 3-star, #15 in state (ESPN seems to be transitioning their website and the scouting report is not showing at present.) From the LA Times report he seems to be out of the same mold as our new PG Brown – from a troubled background who found a new way. But described as a possible future NBA talent. Perhaps the strong father image of a dominant coach will work with these fellows – is that Dunlap’s approach? Maybe it will work well. I thought Max was the handler of troubled young men from his high school coaching experience? I am not criticizing Dunlap if this is his approach, just observing, and hoping it works out best for the young men and team. Check him out on youtube. www.verbalcommits.com/conferences/west-coast

Regardless of your biases for or against CMD and his regime so far, there is no denying that this on paper is a very good recruiting class. I have been very impressed with the type of players he has brought in, and I think it is easy to see the style of play CMD is going to push.
Each of these players seem to be guys with "chips on their shoulder". Mostly every guy who has committed has two things in common. 1) They are very athletic. 2)They are referred to as "tireless, hard workers" or "one of the hardest working guys" out there. This bodes very well for DUnlaps system as we can tell he will definitely push his guys and demand great work ethic. It is clear that we are going to be a in your face, long, athletic defensive team. With West Virginia and VCU recruiting this kid, it is obvious they envisioned him being a havoc defender. He has the perfect length and body type to be an excellent one. Mcclendon also known as a great defender. Jacko defensive, great rebounder. Tutu, small but very quick. Brown, very athletic.
Here is the potential rotation as I see it:
PG: Brown, Tutu, Hayes Sg: Tuach, Hayes, Mcclendon Sf: Haney, Humphries, Spiers Pf: Jacko, Mornar, Johnson C: Mornar, Herman, Johnson
That starting lineup has a ton of athleticism. Good shooters, very good rebounders. And the team as a whole has very good depth.
Question: do we have any more scholarships available or are we now all done?

I love the fact we are beating out some big time programs getting these recruits. It does say a lot about Dunlap and his ability to convince kids to come to LMU after 2 horrible seasons. It does seem like all the recruits are on the smaller. I understand he wants to play fast and getting smaller faster players will help. But we need a couple of big men if we want to compete.

But compete how?
We dont need bigger guys to compete in the WCC. This lineup i think will do just fine. If we want to compete on the nation stage and be a top 25 team? Sure I think we do need to add height. But baby steps. Lets finish in the top 4 in the WCC, get better recruits each year and then we can talk about competing on a national stage. Very few programs become national contenders overnight. Especially when you finish near the bottom of the WCC the year before.
Outside of Gonzaga, and Maybe BYU and Pepp, all other teams in the WCC are within reach next year. I am looking at 2016-2017 as being "our year". If we can make improvements this year, finish top 5 in the WCC, I will be very happy. The following year, most of these JC guys become seniors.
