Waterboy I'm reporting your use of " jungle ball players". to the mods. I think this statement has racial undertones that should not be welcomed on this board.

I think when waterboy was born, the doctor dropped him and fell on this head.
Even if Payne passed the ball, who would score? Payne was the best player on his team because he had to be the best player on the team.
DUMP DUNLAP NOW!

I noticed that too. I think it's probably very revealing. He has this narrative in mind then fortifies it with bunk. He can't back anything up with stats. Evan's game shared little with Teal's who was a point guard. They were both however, from East of the Mississippi River maybe that's what he's getting at. Evan's playing time did not fluctuate in relationship to whether or not he started. We won 3-4 games with him starting versus 3-4 with him off the bench, so what? BTW we lost our last 7 with him coming off the bench.

Are we saying waterboy prefers players to be "pigmentally" challenged? No wonder he sounds like he is a few cards short of a full deck; he's stuck back in the 18th century.

I know who you are too Ironlions. I stand by my statements. Everyone of them, going back in time. Again a fox smells its own den. But thanks you for exposing your small mindedness, I wasn't aware of that before. Too bad you chose to go this path of ad hominum attacks. This is what really ruins these blogs. And it changes no-ones mind. And it will not keep me from posting mine. So we'll see. I support Dunlap, I like his style, and I believe he'll get this train wreck on track. Evan Payne will not be missed, he added nothing this year to our win/loss record. Siame, Payne, and who ever else is not coming back, only presents opportunities for us to get better players...Skilled Players (Like the ones I talked to you about Iron) We don't need atheticism to the exclusion of skill, and visa versa. We need a good balance. This year we had neither.

Seems like only yesterday that we had this team chock full of athletes. Are we already pining for those salad days?

So skill and athleticism (which is what I think Waterboy was trying to spell) are somehow mutually exclusive and oh well, never mind. I'm just not smart enough to follow the logic pattern of those Dunlap groupies.

Wow – this is a lively debate here.
Waterboy – it seems you are close to the team and have insights the rest of us don’t and I appreciate you posts on recruits, etc, that are informative to us fans.
First, I hope you are correct about Dunlap’s ability to build a team – we would like nothing more than a competitive team.
Second, are you serious that Dunlap “surgically removed” Patson Siame from the team? Is there an opinion that Petr Humphries is better that Patson? (both are in their first season of DI ball)
Third, I won’t elaborate on Evan Payne except to say that if I were an opposing coach, he is the one guy I wouldn’t want to see on the floor for LMU. “Ball hog” or “team carrier” is the question. Others have pointed out why he had to score so much when the team couldn’t. Who else do you know who could score 14 points in 53 seconds? If that last 3 had fallen vs Portland (it was close), I believe Evan would have completed the 4-point play and we would have gone overtime while stunning the Portland fans.
Let’s see what rabbits Dunlap and staff can pull out of their hats in recruiting. Clearly, we are expecting a center with more potential than this Patson fella?

Waterboy- you are entitled to any opinion you want about players, coaches playing style etc. I have no issues with that and I'm not attacking you in any way. I find that calling someone "jungle ball player" is has a racial connotation that should not be permitted on this board.

Guess theal36 missed our win at San Francisco. BTW he is the the only one calling a player "a cancer". on the other hand I don't recall seeing anything at all derogatory about either Matt or David on this board. I already admitted I am too dumb to grasp Dunlap's complex concepts like the 4 wheel vehicle/teamwork analogy which has to be one of Dunlaps best, hell he probably has it under copyright. Yep Dunlap was a head coach in the NBA, not for very long though; but wait, he probably was the one that asked to be released from his NBA contract so he could sit out a year waiting to take this job for allot less money, what a great guy. Look he obviously has his chance in the next couple of years to prove his doubters wrong and as surprised as that would make me, I would be happy, as long as we can win some games.

I like that everyone on this board is unhappy with losing it shows a commitment to work towards change. Evan was solid and flashy but he couldn't hit a game winning shot to save his life much less fight his way out of a paper bag double team. I think we are better off without him and all of you naysayers can say what you want. Patson is a ticking time bomb not sure if anyone saw him get ejected for throwing a punch late in the season not someone I want representing LMU. We need to rid ourselves of cancers no matter how talented they look. Rather than giving good insight and fresh perspective this board has turned into a pissing contest full of negativity. Dunlap demands a lot from his players because he's coached the best at the NBA level and understands what kind of commitment is needed to achieve success at that level. Everyone whining on this board about Evan leaving has obviously never worked as part of a team and need to understand that four wheels on a car work a whole lot better than just one spinning in reverse. Hayes and Humphries are our leaders. They work hard, buy into the coaches philosophy and best of all they are not selfish. H&H may not have the star appeal the 300 fan community demands but they do have the appeal to win games in the WCC. Let's not dwell on the past. Let's build forward to the future. If I've never been a part of a team, then it's safe to say you'd fail as a teacher or educator. All I've seen so far is that Dunlap blames his students instead of teaching them better or showing self reflective analysis. He says nobody made a difference on this team. Doe that mean there are 12 failing dogs on the team with no ethic? You blame 12 or the one coach whose job it is to do something. If all my students are failing I can't march to the principal or parents and say they all failed. No, I am held accountable. The best coaches and teachers can take whoever and turn them into something. Those are the real life changers. LMU is a university, Dunlap is an educator. He spews that it needs fixing but he doesnt understand the job. What grinds me the most is that the only reason he has credentials to coach DI is his supposed success with teaching the game. But he has shown that he can't teach the game, hence the need to recruit "skilled" players who know the game." Well sh*t I would be Teacher of the Year every year if I taught Calculus to a bunch of kids who came to me doing regressions in their sleep. It's not like Dunlap has some amazing Xs and Os that are his calling card. So what exactly does he provide? What was the point of his hiring? That's what I'm waiting for. Oh and one other thing. The funny things that all the other coaches in the league would want Payne and so will some of the higher level coaches who have shown interest. Are you seriously implying that Dunlap is a better coach than Few, Bennett, Reveno, Rose? Is he smarter than Gregg Marshall or Steve Fischer? If you think yes than I have a bridge to sell you. Or perhaps you are Husak himself.
