The Tigers lost to UC Irvine by 3 points and to Cal State Fullerton 76-77. Based on their record vs other opponents, I’d say they are pretty much where LMU is right now and should give the Lions a very good game this Saturday afternoon.
In Thursday’s loss to Pepperdine, the Waves converted 31 of 38 free throws to pull out a 81-76 win so the Lions need to be be sharp from the line.
Pacific averages 72.0 points per game but allows their opponents 76.1 ppg so perhaps a high-scoring afternoon.
Gametime: Saturday, January 9, 3 pm at Gersten. TV: TWCSN

It's January and Dunlap hasn't instilled an offensive scheme yet .

Lol this telecast is great. Dunlap 's coaching is proven by his clapping after a turnover to motivate his team. I could totally do the same job. I can clap and motivate quite well actually. I can also watch St Marys play and marvel, what a gig !
Listening to Dave Miller gush lol. Actually Dumblap and BS of the Lakers are like the same coach. Stand Fold arms clap yell grumble throw players under the bus no accountability no defensive or offensive scheme No rotations then say you are changing the culture

No problem with the feed on this end.
I wish there were tho. The Lions may be on top but it's ugly.

Soooo many missed lay ups and open shots, good news is they are getting open shots. They also missed some opportunities when pacific went zone, the big guys were open a couple times. We should definitely win this game.

SLB, why no acknowledgement of "4 star" recruit. Lack of objectivity affects your credibility.

SLB, why no acknowledgement of "4 star" recruit. Lack of objectivity affects your credibility. That's another thread , and I missed the news until today . Ill have to research more . Sounds like the recruiting was more a family affair. Always worry about guys who transfer so much and why he quit Oregon after not starting . Maybe he can be developed but haven't seen a guy look better in a year and a half If you want to bask in Dunlap glory over recruiting lol Old man Good still had s better class and diseased Bayno also had the magic touch LMU sells itself and if the college ever looked internally at LA they could fine studs easily But what I find ironic was that not too long ago people were on this board saying they didn't want to see Dunlap recruiting these high star AAU guys and instead on guys who could play the right way, or whatever . Now that he gets one through some old connections, you jump on the bandwagon. Curious

Wow 2 games in a row Dunlap fails to coach in the closing minute.
Didn't he dump Evan Payne because he just did whatever at the end? But now he brings his guy but doesn't give him anything to work with?
If the last two games (skipping St Marys )doesn't expose Dunlap then I'm not sure what else will.

Now we can all talk about how Dunlap should have had the players call a timeout.

Now we can all talk about how Dunlap should have had the players call a timeout. In NCAAB the coach can take a timeout on his own. His personal spokesman, Dave Miller on the telecast, said that Dunlap elects not to call timeouts because he trusts his guys to figure it out . Figure what out? Against Pepperdine there were 3 straight possessions with no timeout and Brown went 1 on 1 with no idea. Now here with a ton of time there was no plan and not even a shot attempt. If Dunlap is going to keep watching his opponents (true) clapping at his team (true) and hope they figure it out on their own at the end (true) then he should buy a ticket to the game like the rest of the fans.

I've gotta go with slb on his comments today. I know most posters on this board don't like to see negative comments, but this is one poor team and I don't see anything that I can attribute to good coaching. I kept listening to all of the glowing comments about what a great job CMD is doing and wondered, "Who's paying for these ads? Dunlap? Or is the school picking up the tab as part of CMD's contract?"
Pacific is a struggling team with limited offensive talents, yet I saw a slow Kobre get 19 points because we couldn't keep a guy on him. TJ Wallace is a good point guard and is the Tigers' engine but he got in early foul trouble and we couldn't take advantage. I watched our guys trot back on defense and provide very soft defense on outside shooting. Kudos to Pacific for winning the game but CMD isn't putting forward much of a team to compete.
CMD said early in the year that the team would need time to gel and that the Lions would be competitive by the second half of the league season. They've got a long way to go. I think my projection of 4 wins is in jeopardy.
For you optimists - Jocko is good when he can stay on the floor. Brown is very quick and is a good PG. Not great, but good. Humphries continues to hustle his tail off.
Regarding the latest recruit - maybe he's good. I know he was a 4-star in high school but he hasn't exactly set the Division I world on fire. I'm not saying I don't like the pick up. But I'm not going to get excited until I see him proving himself in action.

Now you guys see why I did not put my "money" (WCC Pick'em) on the Lions today. The smart money went on St Mary's after they thumped the Lions and the Waves eked by the Tigers. Major smart money because the Gaels were a sure thing!
Well, this WCC season, perhaps excepting the Zags, has been unpredictable in the extreme (or is this normal for the WCC?)
I thought Humphries had a good game tonite, as did Brown and at times Jacko. Haney pulled another Kobe tonight - when he shoots over 10 tries and doesn't score, we are in trouble, like today.
We need that third scorer to compete in this league and Dunlap continues to over-rely on Haney, in my opinion. I'd like to see Humphries start in his stead for a while until Haney gets his shot going again.
One bright spot recently has been Tauch. He was out of the lineup for a while because he did not seem to have an outside shot. He must have worked on it because he now can hit the 3 and is a serious contributor as a 6'6" guard who defends well.
On to the next game.

We played atrociously the past 2 games. Dunlap normally gives an underperforming player the hook quickly but not Haney; he kept going back to a dry well tonight even when others were playing well or were relatively untested. on defense repeatedly after Pacific barely made it across the 10 second line then inexplicably picked up their dribble near the sideline just over half court; what did we do(?), well we backed off, allowing them time to organize their offense.
I don't know of anything was exposed here but Dunlap was clearly and badly out coached this week, especially tonight. Never heard of the Pacific coach but he certainly got the best out of his young, almost coltish , and relatively uncoordinated kids.
We are now comfortably ensconced in what is becoming our usual spot as dead last in the WCC. We will have a chance to perhaps drag another hapless team down to keep us company in the cellar next Saturday when we face Santa Clara who has a coach that tends to be a legend in his own mind". I don't expect we will do at all well against San Francisco Thursday unless we experience a serious turn around.
