Greetings from Little Rock, AR home of the undefeated UALR Trojans birth place of Wal-Mart, Tyson Foods and Bill Clinton Also, some guard that plays for the Lakers named Fisher played for UALR a few years back. The Trojans will make a visit to your arena 11/12 as the 1st game of a home that you will return next year in Little Rock, as you already know. Like the Lions, UALR has many new faces this season, as well as, coaches. Joe Kleine has joined the staff and we have two transfers from Ole Miss (both returning home to Little Rock after a coaching change at Ole Miss) to make the pain of last season go away. UALR only managed 13 wins last year while having the nations leading rebounder on the roster (Jones-Jennings). UALR will press for about 20 minutes a game. UALR is small at center but hopes to make up for it in forcing turnovers with in your face defense. UALR is not a great shooting team but will make freethrows. We will start: 6'6" point guard that has a great pull up jumper from 15 feet. 6'1" shooting guard 6'5" wing 6'7" pf that can shoot the ball 6'7" really small 5 6th man is a 6'0" scoring machine combo guard Drop by the UALR board at: www.littlerocktrojans.comI would love to have a poster drop by our board to give us a little run down of the Lions.

Welcome to the Lions Den Formerd1. The Lions have one of the youngest rosters in the nation. We have only had one exhibition game ( loss to a D2 school ! -pretty trendy this season ) so far so we are still assessing things. We should have a better understanding after our first game this friday vs. UCIrvine.
Go Lions!
PS- D Fish use to shoot around in the our rec gym when he first signed with the Lakers. I had a chance to chat with him briefly and he was a great guy. I'm sure UALR is proud of him.

Here is a scouting report from cbs online:
Arkansas-Little Rock Strengths: After being strong up front the past two seasons, the Trojans will now be more perimeter-oriented, with depth and athleticism among the guards and wings. The Trojans also add experience from three Juco transfers and two Ole Miss transfers.
Weaknesses: The Trojans lost their two best rebounders and inside defenders and have only one player taller than 6-7 (6-9 freshman Derrick Bails). They also have a lot of work to do to mix the returning players with the newcomers.
Scouting the newcomers: The Trojans are looking for an immediate impact from their transfers. Juco transfer Shane Edwards, a 6-7 wing, brings length and athleticism and the ability to get to the line and defend. Of the Ole Miss transfers, 6-6 junior Brandon Patterson is a capable 3-point shooter, while 6-7, 277-pound sophomore Mike Smith brings some strength and width to the post. The other Juco transfers, 6-4 guard John Fowler and 6-6 forward LaMarvon Jackson, are seen as role players. Freshman Derrick Bails brings size but he's still a freshman.

Well, UALR wins it's home opener. Our poor man's version of Magic Johnson had 18 to lead the team in scoring. Ozark is a d3 school so the stats probably lie in this game.
Next up, The Lions. Any web cast info for the game?

UALR's standings so far. vs Cameron (exb) 78-59 W vs U of Ozarks 92-54 W I think Ozarks is transitional and does not count in Little Rock's true record. Massey Comparison Ratings LMU- 200 UALR- 221
POM LMU- 164 UALR- 222See you in the stands Go lions!

With two key players hurt, Here is my best guess: pg: Patterson (6'7" pg poor man's magic johnson, Ole Miss Transfer) sg: Atkins (6'1" shooter that can not get his on shot) sf: Fowler (6'4" defensive stopper) pf: Edwards (6'7" can shoot and run the floor, a little small as a rebounder) c: Moss 6'7" (very small center) Sixth man: Moore (6'0" quick pg that can shoot but can't run the offense) Well, the U of Arkansas used to be 40 minutes of hell. UALR brings 20 minutes of purgatory in its full court press. UALR will get out and run back at you off of made baskets. UALR is a poor rebounding team and small on the blocks. If the Lions have any kind of big men, the paint should be yours. Good luck, drop by our board if you get a chance: www.littlerocktrojans.com

Hey formerd1, thanks for posting.
I read about the injury to Malone in the exhibition. Who is your other key guy that is hurt? Is it Eggins? Is he for sure out? Sounded like he still might play. Thanks for any info.

Our 20 turn overs gave UCI 26 points!!! Q has 5 TO's, Shawn 3 ( carrier high in points is awesome though) and Corey 3. Not such a great number for our back-court. UALR brings 20 minutes of purgatory in its full court press. This could mean trouble for your young turn over prone Lions. I'm sure we have been working hard to remedy this problem. I think if we cut down on the TO's and our bigs have good games we have a good chance vs. UALR A "W" would be a nice confidence boost for the young Lions! ;D

Thanks for any info. Eggins is the other hurt player. If he can go, he can get his on shot and is a big guard at 6'5" a little over 200lbs. He was recruited by Baylor and Rice, so he is a smart player.

Q -6 Orlando -4 Dead -3 Tim - 2 Ziri -2 Counts - 3 The beauty is they are young and will correct in time. This is a team not front or back court issue and Coach T is working it out. Hopefully tonight but maybe not, we just need to support and give them time to grow. The beauty was they outplayed UCI in the second half. Can't make the game tonight so please update me if you could, thanks.

I was trying to emphasize the back court in terms of turn overs. I essence they are the ones who should be "taking care of the ball". But I guess its everybody's fault when we have 20. I'm most disappointed with Q's 6. He is not freshman and shouldn't be having 6 TO's. Let see how the Lions focus on this issue tonight.
Go Lions!
