I mostly stayed away from the SHAMsudin drama but now it looks like Walberg has stolen another WCC recruited verbal. This time from Santa Clara. Perhaps he just forgot about his buddies?

George Makes A Switch
Paul George By Evan Daniels Recruiting Analyst Date: Nov 1, 2007
Paul George decided he wanted to play his college ball closer to home, so he decommitted from Santa Clara and committed to another WCC school.
This is what I got from Scout.com and you know what? This sucks big time! WTF is Walberg doing in Malibu? Don't tell me there is nothing fishy going on here! This is becoming way too obvious now. The school just acts in concert with Walberg: "oh...u need another scholie to steal a player? Sure, coah...leave it to us, we will dismiss another westphal holdover to give you room to cheat"
Kingsley Costain, a junior guard, was dismissed by Pepperdine just two weeks ago.

Thanks for giving a source lmu. I caught the news from the waves board. I'm really shocked by how audacious they are being. I understand that "verbals" are just that. It isn't a contract, it isn't a signing commitment, but poaching pretty much makes the act of verballing and therefore corralling top talent early irrelevant. I'm sad to see Pepp diminishing the importance of verbals from fellow conference teams.

Whoa this is a big blow to to SC's class. Ameer was a good player and we replaced him in about an hour with a player just as good if not better. George will be very hard for SC to replace.

Costain was a senior and thus would not have played next year in any event.

I checked the Santa Clara board and there isn't much talk about George...kind of surprising.

Checked in on bronohoops and doesn't look like much talk about anything. We seem to have enough bitterness and outrage to share. Walberg's got to be on the conferences coaches' sh!t list. Or maybe it is just a coincidence that George just now found out Pepperdine is cool place from his sister (a senior on the women's basketball team : or that Keating some how seduced him under distress during a campus visit and just now has young George has freed himself from the pull.. or or.... like SHAM he didn't realize how many BFFs he had in LA or .. or

The guy has no ethics and is not afraid of whoring himself out no matter how many bridges he burns. Impossible to trust or respect someone like that. I would like to meet him during his visit to Los Angeles. He's effectively weakened other WCC teams and had us do his heavy lifting. A great strategy to try to pull his lowly team out of the gutter. I'm waiting for what other rules he is willing to bend in order to win. Congrats pepperdine on a great incoming class. How does it feel to sell your soul ...

From the waves board I'm excited to see something else besides total dominance by the Zags in the WCC. Adding a ethically challenged juco coach to the creepiest school on the planet was just what I was looking for. Stealing kids who had verballed at other schools in your own conference is pretty darn impressive. Say hello to sanctions soon, you guys might need the extra money in case America decides to not to elect a retard as the next commander in chief. One of your deans might need more than 50 million dollars this time to see if someone got head. Walberg, you seem like a reel stand up guy, have fun in your three years at Cult Clown Community College. They'll be other opportinites out there in Malibu, Paris Hilton will always need a baby sitter at Promises. Had me rollin . Another poster talked about how at least all this will help strengthen WCC rivalries. I like the positive attitude. Bring them on. ;D

Did you ever think that maybe Paul George contacted Coach Walberg and asked him if he had a scholarship available? Ok, let’s put it this way if Paul George contact Coach Tention and said I am thinking of coming to LMU do you think he would say NO? If you guys think he would say NO you guys are BLIND. If a kid wants out, he wants out, end of story. All this Coach Walberg talk is cracking me up; it’s hilarious to listen to people who don’t know a damn thing about what is going on! I think what really bothers you LMU fans is the fact Pepperdine only won 8 games last year and 2 of there wins were against you guys. Now that is pretty funny! 25% of his wins in his first season come from LMU! I see now why you guys are so upset…………………

This quite possibly one of the most unethical things that I have seen go on in the WCC. When a kid verbals to another team in the conference, the kid is no longer on the market and the coach has no business talking to them under any condition. This isn’t even the first questionable thing that Walberg did; there was a whole history of Walberg hiring assistant coaches on the basis that they were close to a recruit (tutor/etc).
Walberg clearly isn't going to be with Pepperdine for long, unlike Few/Bennett he has no interest in the mid-major WCC level. With the type of moves he is making, it is clear that he just waiting for a quick jump to the BCS level.
I really hope that LMU has a great (at least .500+) season while Pepperdine self-destructs. Walberg, as others have stated, is simply a punk.

Gaelballer I can see you talking about Few but don’t bring Bennett into the mix, that clown interviewed for the Pepperdine job and I bet you didn’t even know that. He also runs a ton of Walberg’s plays as well. So please don’t disrespect Few by putting Bennett in the same breath. Bennett has been interviewing all over the place to try and get out of that whole he is in for a Gym. Bennett is just hoping for a great year this year and he is gone. Save this post and read it next year and you will see I am correct. Kids change there minds all the time, you are just upset because it’s happening in your league and you’re worried that a former JC Coach is going to dominate the WCC here soon enough. It’s only a matter of time before that happens and if Pepperdine every builds that new Gym they keep talking about then rest assured it will be the Few and Walberg show every year.
