Hi All,
Long time reader of the board here. Found the discussions about growing the fandom fascinating and inspiring, and wanted to start a thread dedicated to that end. I'm not in California these days, but I'm trying to do my part by attempting to get a group together in Seattle to watch a game at a bar together. Happy to backchannel or publicly discuss any networking we can do to help grow the Pride.

That’s an awesome idea! Would definitely be cool to have an lmu bar across cities to meet up with other lions and watch basketball

Agreed! I reached out to the alumni association and the alumni Facebook group up here to see what I can find. Might just have to start taking over a bar on game days lol.
By the way, I'm not expecting any anonymity here since I'm trying to start some in-person events, but I understand that might matter to others. I'm Connor, class of 2015. If I find a place in Seattle, I'll post the location on the board and other places - if you're local, feel free to show up, no questions asked about who you are on this board.

This is a great idea! The culture stills needs to change around campus and the students first, but an alumni network is very interesting...

If Coach Johnson ever leaves LMU (and I hope he is the next "Mark Few" and stays long term) it will be for the lack of fan support, in particular in the stands. Unfortunately we are in a COVID era which does discourage attendance at home games. Let's get thru this era and help Coach Johnson succeed.

Tough loss last night, but I've got a few positive developments on this end. 1. Found a bar that will fulfill the needs of LMU fans in Seattle. I'll post the name here for the next game broadcast in Seattle. 2. I made contact with the university about alumni watch parties. We'll see what happens. 3. I connected with the writer of the Loyolan article about the lack of excitement for the program. It sounds like they're interested in doing what they can to help the fanhood grow, as well.
Is anyone out there interested in striking up a relationship with the athletics department, either to help get tailgates set up or be an advisor to a new ROAR (although ROAR might be student affairs)? Are any of the other out-of-towners interested in connecting with the athletics department, as well, about watch parties in their city?
Thanks, all.

Thanks for taking the initiative! Much appreciated.
Any word back from the University?
In theory it would be awesome to start some kind of tailgating/ROAR scene, I just don't know how.

I'm set to have a conversation with the assistant director of Alumni Affairs this week. While the primary focus of the conversation is watch parties for alumni, I'll ask about tailgating and ROAR and whether we can help. He might redirect me to a different branch of the university for that, though. Was there anything else members of this board want to know? I'm happy to ask questions and pitch suggestions on behalf of our little unofficial fan club here.

Why we can’t get better play by play and radio coverage? I try to listen here in so cal, but it’s never good enough reception.

Conversation with the alumni association has been delayed until next week. I'll keep the board updated.
In the meantime, if any PNW alumni are reading this, I'll be watching the LMU vs Gonzaga game at Uptown Hophouse in Seattle with a few friends tonight!

I don’t, but honestly for what the university tuition is, you would think that they could make that a better broadcast and increase the proximity. Plus if I want to catch the game in the car, I should be able to turn to 88.9 and hear the game. Not sure how anyone else feels.
