Since our 76-62 loss at Saint Mary's, the Gaels have gone 6-0 capped by their victory over Gonzaga to sweep into 1st place in the WCC standings. The Gaels gave points (3.5) to the Zags and still beat the spread in their overtime game.
In our game on Jan 12, 6'3" point guard Mahaney (who probably will reach the NBA) led the Gaels with 25 points. He also was a one-man wrecking crew late in the Zags game last week.
Can the Lions regain their early season footing? And dare the fans hope for a major upset? Or even a competitive game?
Or, more likely, will this be ugly?

Based on our lack of desire the last 2 games, I don't think I can take the embarrassment about to be dealt out to us by St. Mary's. Wish Ahren, Lewis could play better. Take pressure off Cam, Anderson and Kelli. Could start by ceasing the mindless drives to the middle of the lane, picking up their dribble, then look out to get rid of the ball, even though many times they could take the open shot from there. Instead, they get trapped due to their indecisiveness. Those 2 clearly have NO intent to score baskets. 1rst option there is to look at the basket to see if you're open to score, only pass if not. Seen it too many times. So, more pressure for the others. Cam has to be exhausted trying to do it all himself. He also misses a lot of assist opportunities to the open guy (because the guys don't get to open spot for the pass off), so he's doing it all himself. I want to be proved wrong about this game!! Please!! Anderson is a mixed bag of stupid turnovers and brilliant shooting. At least he moves. I'd take that from the other guys.

The boys are coming out with fight on Thursday Night for the home fans.
Let’s get Rick back in the mix and push St. Mary’s around.

Even if we don’t win this game we just need to be playing better so we have some momentum going into Saturday.
We look completely lost on offense right now. I know St. Mary’s is excellent and I’m not expecting to win this game, but I just hope we can start to build some momentum and get our mojo back.

Saw a stat that if we win this game we will be the first team in conference history to beat Gonzaga, BYU, and St. Mary’s in the same season.

Given we started off down 16-0, the fact this is even a game shows great effort and mental fortitude. That being said this is starting to slip away, Shelton and Leaupepe need to carry us home.
