Very happy with this addition, as well. Regarding playing time, Lars played 25 minutes a game last season, but never played more than 14 minutes a game prior to last season.
I could see Lars playing 20 minutes, and Rick and Graham each getting 10 minutes. Lot of fouls to give and a lot of energy to burn off.

I certainly hope neither Issanza nor Graham get discouraged and try to leave. There’s plenty of room and PT for all three. Each brings a different skill set that will be difficult for opposing coaches to combat. While neither 7-footer will make the pre-season All-American team, I’d rate both of them above average and there aren’t a lot of teams that feature 2 above average 7-footers. Throw in Graham’s king arms and string hustle and I like where we are at the 5-spot.
I am interested in how McBride will fit in. I understand he played the 4-5 in high school but he’s short for the 4/5 in DI. Can he play the 3? I’ve not seen him play. At this point we have a definite 4-spot starter with Leaupepe and Alex as his backup. But we have nothing at the 3.

There should be enough minutes to go around for Issanza & Graham. It's possible Stan wants to try McBride at the 3. He might not offer much shooting but that could be alleviated by playing alongside Keli. Look at the way the Lakers are using Jarred Vanderbilt. He doesn't have a reliable outside shot and is pretty limited offensively but his size on the perimeter is very disruptive defensively. Shooting from others on the floor goes a long way in covering up his current limitations.

Stan picked up Wright and Hill, if Taitz still exists, seems silly to ride the line at a fellow WCC team. Good luck to him. I hope McBride is tried out at the 3. If he wants an NBA chance, that’s what he’ll need to play. Get him with a shot doctor. That’s what I’d do if I was blessed with size and athleticism. Go live in the gym practicing shooting. Issanza plays maybe 20 minutes, and Keli gets enough foul trouble to miss time too. There is plenty of time for 4 bigs. |

This is unfortunate, he would have had some big games for us. With three open spots we need to fill them with one more guard and two wings. McBride is not a 3 offensively, and if he wasn't a 3 in HS this last season he isn't going to be a 3 in college next year, I think he will excel in a PF position for us - lets not make the mistake of getting a talented player and then asking them to play out of position.

Frustrating, but also really predictable that someone wouldn't be happy when Stan brings in multiple 6-2 combo guards. |
