I heard the visit went really well. I think we have a very good shot at him. I do not know his time frame. Sorry!

Reported by Lamdachi on another thread. Vinson has shot up to 64 on rivals top 150. rivalshoops.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=54690&sport=2 I like the fact he played with Young at the LSU camp. Maybe they got to know one another. If we land Vinson I will do a little dance around the office. Go Lions

We are in it againts some huge programs. Never thought I would see the day we would be recruiting againt Big East and ACC schools.
Vinson visited Maryland yesterday...run down below per scout.
A nationally known commodity since his freshman year of high school, Terrell Vinson has had his share of exposure to college basketball recruiting. But with his senior year fast approaching, Vinson has gotten more serious about the process, pared his list to four schools and begun to try and decide where he wants to go. A trip to Maryland yesterday was the latest step in the process. Vinson, a 6-foot-6 small forward rated the No. 76 player in the national Class of 2009, visited College Park along with his mother and spent a good while chatting with head coach Gary Williams. Vinson had met Williams on several occasions, but this was their most in-depth conversation and the first time Vinson’s mother was able to meet him.
“He’s a pretty serious dude, he likes to keep it real and he doesn’t like to mislead players,” Vinson said. “He said that he sees me as a perimeter player that can also post up, that I have a great feel for the game and that he’d love to have me come there. He pretty much said he thinks I can come and have an instant impact.
“I grew up watching Maryland. It would be a great opportunity to go there and play for Gary Williams. [Assistant coach Keith Booth] tells me about how he makes all of his players better,” Vinson said.
He also saw former high school teammate and current Terps star Greivis Vasquez and several other players.
“Greivis would love for me to come there,” Vinson said.
His mother enjoyed the visit as well.
“I think she was concerned about the graduation rate and he cleared that up yesterday,” Vinson said.
Vinson, a polished inside-out threat who can shoot the 3 or work the post, is transferring from Montrose Christian in Rockville to Baltimore’s St. Frances Academy, where he starts school Sept. 3. He’s narrowed his list to Maryland, Villanova, Georgetown and Loyola-Marymount – LMU coach Bill Bayno has a long-standing relationship with one of Vinson’s AAU coaches and has been working hard to land Vinson, who for a while didn’t seem to be considering Maryland.
His renewed interest came “after talking to coach Williams and the coaching staff clearing some things up,” he said.
Maryland backed off of Vinson for a few months because the staff wasn’t expecting to have a scholarship available for him, said his stepfather, James Gilyard. That, however, was before Shane Walker transferred and Gus Gilchrist left for South Florida.
“Keith Booth told us several months ago that they didn’t have any more scholarships and that they didn’t want to waste our time. They called us [this summer] and told us what happened. They’ve been recruiting Terrell since the ninth grade,” Gilyard said.
The local aspect “plays a large factor because his mother would like to see as many games as possible,” he added.
Vinson is now looking to set up official visits to all four schools and make a decision before his senior season begins. TSR will keep you posted as his recruitment hits the home stretch…
Maryland becoming involved makes things even more difficult since Terrell grew up there, and his family would get to see his games. But come one does his mom and dad want to say "my son is a turtle"? "My son is a Lion" has a better ring to it ;D

I'm trying not to get too excited until I find an offical word. Zag poster saying he is hearing it from a source close to the Baltimore hoops scene.

Would definitely be the biggest get so far. I am going to try to hold off on celebrating yet too, but let me just point out that Vinson has shot up to a 93! on Espn.com and #46 RECRUIT IN THE NATION.

This recent story on scout doesn't sound like he has committed.
Terrell Vinson is getting close to making his college choice. The Rockville (Md.) Montrolse Christian standout has his list down to four schools and is preparing for his third and final official visit. “I’m in the process of taking a couple of official visits,” Vinson said. “I’m visiting Maryland in October. That's the only other school that I’m going to visit.”
To go with Maryland, Vinson is also considering Georgetown, Villanova and Loyola Marymount. He recently took visits to Georgetown and LMU and came away impressed with what each had to offer.
“I like Georgetown right now,” Vinson said. “It was a pretty interesting visit. I got to see the campus and I went to the gym. I got to see the campus life it was a nice campus life.”
“I like LMU too,” the 6-foot-7, 200-pound forward said. “I liked their campus a lot and I like Coach Bayno. He's a pretty nice guy.”
Villanova has an in-home visit scheduled with Vinson, who is ranked No. 76 by Scout.com, within the next few weeks. Following the visit, he said he plans to make his collegiate decision.
