if anyone has a rivals account there is an article or post about vinson and a possible commitment to lmu. If someone does and would like to relay what it says that would be great. Vinson is a top 50 talent with the ability to be a 5 star recruit before his high school career ends. rivalshoops.rivals.com/forum.asp?sid=910&fid=103Scroll down a little bit.

Its a post asking if there are any truths to the rumor. Two people claimed to have heard that Vinson committed to LMU. Then there are some haters on there too. The guy from the Zag board said someone close to the Baltimore hoops scene told him. Then the article posted above appeared on Scout. Not sure what to think...

could be a hard sell. Unfortunately a poster would need a specialized Maryland Scout subscription to view that board. How greedy.

Including us, the schools that remain for Vinson are: Maryland,Villanova and Gtown. The good thing is all the other schools already have commitments from players that would compete for PT against Vinson
Villanova:Isaiah Armwood 6-8 **** Former team mate of Vinson's. Another team mate of Vinson's Mouphtauo Yarou is also committed to VU. I believe their class is ranked in the top 3 in the nation.
Gtown Hollis Thompson 6-6 ****
Maryland Jin Soo Kim 6-7 *** The Terps also have 6-8 Chris Braswell on campus this weekend. Let's hope he loves it and commits. Just read the Maryland is going after two 2010 players at also play Vinson's spot.
From what I last read Vinson is 6-7 1/2 and 200 lbs now.

Latest on Vinson...written by someone at the hoya report so its kind of biased.
September 19, 2008 – As with many young people, particularly in the Class of 2009, recruitment is thankfully winding down – November 12th – 19th comprises the early basketball signing period, while late signees can do so between April 15th and May 12th of next year. Thankfully was used because high profile student-athletes have been bombarded by recruiters, writers, and even recruitniks, in some cases for years.
Baltimore, MD's Terrell Vinson is no different; a forward taller than 6'7" that can hit the midrange shot, rebound, score around the tin, battle and increasingly drive the ball, Vinson has long been on many school's wish lists. Reached last night by telephone, Terrell's father, James Gilyard shared of his son's decision timetable, "He's gong to commit the end of October, first of November". Terrell Vinson has labored hard and long to diversify his game. He can now get it done on the perimeter. That leaves interested schools a little over a month to make a final impression. Georgetown, as has been the case for over a year, is well situated, having hosted Vinson for an official visit this month, an excursion that was well received. Touring the school and playing with the team, Terrell was able to interact with current Hoyas and their coach, John Thompson III. According to his dad, Vinson thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
As should happen, Vinson is committed to explore all his options, including Loyola Marymount University, having officially visited the California-based institution last week. How does a B'More resident find his way to LMU one may ask? According to Gilyard, it's all about relationships, as the school's head coach, Bill Bayno has deep Baltimore roots, enjoying a longtime relationship with Vinson's AAU coach and having recruited the city's Dante Bright to UMass years ago.
Nevertheless, it will be a definite uphill climb to lure Vinson out west. "It was culture shock" shared Gilyard of his son's impression of LMU. Many may infer this to be a racial makeup analysis, but it's not, as Terrell's dad continued saying "It's totally different from what he's used to. He's not used to losing like that (LMU was 5-26 last year) – they used to have a strong program with Hank Gathers - but right now they are rebuilding. We have to think about that".
Of the other schools recruiting Terrell, Maryland will be officially visited "in a week or so" said Gilyard. Villanova is still a possibility, while Duke is not in the mix.
A school with excellent academic credentials, demonstrated alumni networking, a coach that can teach the game and a program with a winning tradition are Terrell's criteria for choosing his future college home.
Being part of a school experienced in winning is something Terrell has become accustomed to at Montrose Christian (MD) until now, and hopes to experience as he completes his senior year at East Side Baltimore's Saint Frances Academy. The latter, coached by alumni, Temple University standout and former professional player, Mark Karcher, will enjoy having Vinson finish up his high school career there. Terrell reciprocates those feelings.
It has been a long process...
— James Gilyard, father of Terrell Vinson on recruitment."He's really looking forward to winning some games at St. Frances" including "possible BCL (Baltimore Catholic League) and MIAA (Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association) titles" said Gilyard. On a personal note, his father stated of Terrell's mindset regarding the transfer: "He's happy, because a lot of people in Baltimore haven't seen him play (Montrose is in the D.C. suburbs). He's looking forward to that. His former school never played good games around Baltimore".
Playing small forward at Saint Frances, a move Gilyard believes will further "get him prepared for college", Vinson gives the Panthers, on paper, the most potent lineup in Baltimore private school hoops. The school has to be the favorite to win both the BCL and MIAA crowns

Thanks ironlions..... All I have to say is Mr. Gilyard best understand that his son can thrive at LMU and in the WCC. He could own it. Terrell could be credited with a storied turn-around. The WCC is a tough conference (let's don't forget 3 NCAA bids and USD taking down UCONN), but a conference Terrell can own. Being a NBA first-round draft pick under Bayno is not out of the question. Whether Terrell wants to take a safe route by playing for a winning program, but those programs promise a lot, but only deliver half of the time for these student-athletes because of their coaches have to handle egos of many top 100 players, the log-jam of talent at a similar position, the huge expectations of alumni and boosters, and not to mention the egos of the coaches themselves. LMU is a perfect fit for Vinson. His AAU coach knows it. And it is convincing Vinson that LMU has quality education and an unbelievable opportunity to learn from a coach who knows what it takes to get to the next level. The other coaches on his dwindling list are only one deminsional. Good college coaches that can win games in college. Developing players to succeed in the NBA and life may be a question. With Bayno, you get much more. A good college coach, but a coach who has connections with the NBA. A coach that will give you one-on-one attention. A coach that can not rely on the past records (like those other programs) and is DEDICATED to put his heart and soul into the student-athletes. Bayno and the LMU has something to prove and are COMMITTED to doing so. If our student-athletes fail, then so will Bayno. With the other programs, if a student-athlete fails to reach his potential, that good storied coach always sees another day because of the past success that college coach has had. If Vinson wants to get to the NBA, there is no better place on his rader than Bill Bayno and LMU. If you don't take the risk, there is very little reward. With risk comes reward. If you want to be the best basketball player you can, you will come West Terrell. Come West. Just Say Bayno!

If Vinson selects LMU to play his college days at, we will have to get the official LMU welcome wagon out for his arrival. Not to mention, I will be kissing the pavement that Bill Bayno walks on. I will be like the Pope and down on all fours kissing the goodness of the earth.
OUR PROGRAM will definitely have the last piece of the puzzle with Vinson and Garibay. Dancing all the way to the tourney.
Just Say Bayno!

In that case I think it would be the wrong decision for Vinson if he is looking for playing time. Sure he stays near his home, but Georgetown is getting Hollis Thompson who plays his same position. Thompson is a top 25 recruit. It will be tough beating him out and receiving significant playing time his first two or three years.

Maryland just got 6-7 player James Padgett, which means they have two players at Vinson's postion. ( Padgett and Kim)
Gtown has Thompson already at Vinson's position
Villanova is already loaded at Vinson's position
Can you please commit to LMU Terrell!

Terrell: I would rather see you as a Freshman than a transfer. Ironlions' point is that LMU welcomes you with open arms and guarantees you tons of playing time immediately. Please let Bayno be your guide to development.
