Wow, I’m liking the cerebral literary discussion going on here. You know, I’ve always said that what college basketball needs is more Bukowski. I think it needs more Bukkake, but what do I know?

lmulions.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/102308aad.htmlMadness at Midnight arrives on Friday and brings in 2008-09 basketball season. Madness begins Friday. Oct. 23, 2008 Los Angeles, CA - Madness at Midnight, the annual student body tipoff event for the upcoming collegiate basketball season on the campus of Loyola Marymount University, has arrived and will have Gersten Pavilion the place to be Friday, Oct. 24. The event, which has become one of the most popular student body events of the season, will begin at 10 p.m. With a new era of men's basketball set to take off under first year Head Coach Bill Bayno, the evening will take on some changes, including the main event of the evening, a dunk contest. "We think the student body will really have something to be excited about this season," said Bayno, who was hired in April as the 24th head coach of LMU men's basketball. "We have a team that will really be exciting to watch and students will have a chance at a sneak peak of that during the dunk contest." The venue will also undergo a change as the stage will be set at the south end of the court so that both sides of the bleachers and part of the floor can be used for seating. The event has drawn more than 3,500 students and that is only expected to increase this season. Some things haven't changed as the evening will still feature introductions of both the men's and women's basketball teams, a speech from Bayno, dance performances from campus dance clubs and of course the athletics' team dance competition which will feature a record 14 programs. On the schedule to perform will be LMU Cheer Team, BBoy Status, Kuumba Beatz and IB Modern. Competing in the dance contest will be women's swimming, men's tennis, women's water polo, men's soccer, softball, men's cross country, women's rowing, baseball, women's cross country, men's crew, women's soccer and the defending champions, men's basketball. Fans will get a chance to see both teams in their first action of the season in coming weeks as the men's team will play their exhibition game against Hope International on Monday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. while the women will take on Point Loma on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m.
