Rumors on the Don board are saying Antonio Kellogg, one of their best players, if not the best player, is no longer a part of the program. I believe it is a academic issue. He had to sit out a few games during last season to get his grades in order. Let's see who they pick up if its true.

oh snap! Not good news for them at all. They got some nice recruits coming in so this will not ice them but it'll hurt.
The timing is bad too, might end up sitting on the scholie?

Wendell Mckennis (SP) is going to be a big time player for them. And the Texas Tech transfer Lowhorn will have a nice impact, but they are in need of a PG. I think Manny is more of a scorer for them.

An incredible blow for them. The PG position is too important for them to sit on a scholarship. Evans has to find a JUCO transfer but the ones left after the two signing periods are going to be suspect.
I wonder why it took so long to figure that Kellog was not making the grades and would not.

USF is a case study on how having thug love will not get you far in the long run. This is not new to them.

It seems like the top few teams in the league are going to be real tough. Gonzaga and St. Mary's dont seem to lose much, san diego should be a contender, but who knows. And beyond that the rest of the league seems like it will be a tossup

Pepperdine still looking bad this year? I know last year a lot of players left the team, what about this year? Can't be worse than last year, can it?

Got an excellent recruiting class if it all stays intact. But it will be a completely new team, it'll have more talent but less experience. Should do similiar to last season imo

we have a lot of unknowns this year with so many new recruits, so i can understand everyone picking us low again. no one knows how everything will translate
as long as there aren't key injuries to shelley or our two lone 'bigs' henry and the aussie i think middle of the pack would be best case scenario.

San Diego has a new coach and a very young lineup. Only return 1.5 starters . USF is hit with a big blow. USD has Brandon Johnson and Pomare returning they could be pretty good. New coach dynamics might cause trouble but who knows the mojo might prove better than Holland could bring.

USD also have a very good recruit in Robert Jones. He should be able to contribute right away.

I wouldn't trust anything that comes out of the Don's board rumor mill. Everytime I take a look it is just a mess of specious lies, backstabbing, and bullying. It wasn't long ago they were claiming the baseball coach was posting on the board spreading lies.

Rumors are getting louder from credible sources. McKines is a goner.
7/24/07 from rivals.com
Wendell McKines- Out of his letter of intent with San Francisco, McKines is expected to find out in the coming weeks from the NCAA Clearinghouse if he is academically eligible for the coming year. The undersized power forward dunked his way to 13 points and grabbed a game high 15 rebounds against Urban DFW Elite.
Hardy has been known to be long gone. Their program is in turmoil.

It is a difficult situation for USF. I feel bad that its season, which was looking pretty good has been turned on its head. Hard on the fans, coaches, and players.
A positive is if McKines is truly a liability and could have possibly caused USF to lose scholarships down the road. This would have hurt the program more. Paranoia or well-reasoned foresight. Only time will tell.

When the posting about McKines broke last week I thought it was just a another rumor started by a rival fan. But if there is some news about it rivals its more serious. Even if he is cleared, it will be a chanllenge...I'm sure the Dons fans are pretty bummed out.
Really glad LMU athletic dept keeps academics a top priority...something to be really proud of.
Coach JE really is on the hot seat now...i bet the regret not hiring our Coach T now!
Go Lions.
