The coaches will DEFINITELY be there. Coaches having interactions with student-athletes for more than 2 hours a week can begin on October 12, 2008 12:00AM by NCAA rules. Hence Midnight Madness. Prior to this date, coaches cannot see players more than 2 hours a week per NCAA guidelines.

The promotional calendar will conclude with the signature event at LMU, Madness at Midnight. The event will be held in Gersten Pavilion on Friday, Oct. 24 at 10 p.m. The event is open and more information will be on LMULions.com.

Midnight Madness for LMU is on the 24th. It is one week after what should be midnight madness because this Friday is an LMU holiday - so they pushed it one week (so it could be on a Friday that students were in class). The team can start practicing on the 17th of October this year. (the 12th of October was last year's start date) - but some teams DID do some midnight madness type events last weekend. www.usatoday.com/sports/college/mensbasketball/2008-10-06-early-starts_N.htm

Hey guys, I found this board one day while I was bored at work. Graduated from LMU in 2007. It's great that Bayno has brought excitement and hope back to LMU basketball. I was at the scrimmage today. Some general observations:
- Kevin Young is as good as advertised. He was flying up and down the court and hustling on both ends. He definitely needs to put on some muscle, but I can see why he has been compared to a young Marion. Quick, long and athletic.
-Ashley Hamilton had some good strong drives. He should be able to bang down low and grab some boards.
-DuBois looked very comfortable running the point as a true freshman. He's quick and help the offense run smoothly.
-Vernon Teel has great size for a PG. He's very offensive minded, however he needs to do a better job of passing and finding the open man.
-Armstead looks like he'll be a solid role player.
-Sweezy jacked up a lot of air balls...
-The transfers didn't get to play
It looks like this year's team will revolve around DuBois, Teel, Young and Hamilton. These new troops are definitely a lot more athletic than past squads. I predict a return to .500 basketball. This looks like a solid supporting cast with a lot of potential.
All they are missing is a go to scorer (Vinson) and a legit BIG MAN (Garibay).
I believe Bayno will turn this thing around.
