Oh no! Im not trying to be confrontational just putting my thoughts out there. I just don't understand why so many people see Ashley as a 5?

at least hdr wrschnicke have good opinions and smart of you wrschnicke to figure out so soon that i am a bayno baller/coach good fan i include edgar in the bayno crew he is in the same class as jd laron and kevin he just went the prep route last season bayno wanted him pretty bad imho i feel if you put ashley at the 5 how would you use edgar and tim edgar at 6'10 230pds and the way he held his own this summer at the sayno is the true starting center 4 lmu this season strong and athletic as ashley is he can easily take the other power forwards in the wcc to the hold with ease and out rebound them allso you guys remember diamond simpson of st.marys thats ashley all day for us and with him trading off with alex at the 4 spot 4 a quick breather we should be a very high uptempo team alex at the 4 spt will get a lot of experience learning on the job training is is the best way to learn and we will be playing a lot of man 2 man with bigger personal timmy d at 6'9 230 or so allready has a year of experience under his belt so i clearly see the bayno plan coming together and can't you guys see clearly bayno got spooked after the bigs went down and decided to go back to the good life with the trailblazers and came up with a GOOOOD plan to leave things in the very capable hands of old friend and current head coach the great MAX GOOD AND STAFF EVEN THO we lost terrell vinson and we could really have used bayno in recruiting we will be o k i have faith in the team and the staff to get lmu heading in the right direction

on my secret web cam i have stashed away in the gym i only saw vernon laron and g.rielly going threw workout drills not going hard at each other :-[friendly competition will sharpen their skills and make them better and hungrier. I feel 50 cent (v.teel) and game (l.armstead) are the biggest and best shooting guards we have 6'3 180 at shooting guard is not gonna get it imho thank you and please don't rippe me a new a.... hole because i have my own opinion

Griff was hitting a lot of open shots this summer...He certainly seems to be working hard to improve his game. However, we are loaded at his position and only see him getting PT when a game is out of hand.

As much as Griff may have practiced this off season and obviously we will see it in playing time soon, I don't see him pushing for anyones playing time. Depending on redshirts and that situation we may have a guy in Laron that started and played over 30 mins a game last year struggling for playing time. Ask for some tape of the Arizona game and Griff looked a little lost on the floor and while shooting 3s is a normally good in practice games are a little different. Coach Good also seemed to have a problem with him sometimes throughout the year, and with the new walk-on minutes might even be smaller. I'm guessing clean-up jobs only for this season for the two of them unless we have injury or attitude problems. Every team has 20-20 guys lets just hope that they are going in up 20.

Starting 5:
Point - JD. He proved himself last year, and has earned the starting spot. It's his to lose. (Larry won't be competing for this spot at the beginning of the season, IMHO, because of his injury. ) 2 Guard - Vernon. The two is a scorer - and that's what Vernon does. He's competitive, and will complement this years squad with his aggressiveness and ability to get to the rim. Hope his free throws are more consistent this year. Given, if healthy, and Laron will be great reserves at this spot. Both athletic and competitive. Small forward - Kevin Young. Again - he has earned the spot. Don't discount what these kids did last year, and Kevin's experience playing internationally. He is a hard worker, and hopefully this past year has added some polish. But again - last year's guys will most likely be given the spots to begin with. They will have to prove they can keep it. Power forward - Drew Viney. He's really more of a three - but can play inside as well. His size will help out on the boards. (Ashley will back him up at the 4) Center - hmmm. This is the toughest one. Edgar or Tim? Tim has the experience, but how strong is his shoulder at this point? I'm going with Tim. He's seasoned, and at this point, tougher.
Coach Good has some great opportunities with a deeper bench than last year (wow, what wouldn't be, huh?). And a couple of players that can play numerous positions. The freshman will all have a chance to grow with the team - and won't be needed to survive, like last year. You have great spark with Sweezy, who can mix things up nicely. Viney can play any of the positions, which gives Coach Good the choice of going big, small, quick or strong and moving him from position to position.
The freshman minutes last year cannot be discounted. JD, Kevin and Laron all gained years of experience in one season - which will make them more valuable to us this year.
