Personally, I would prefer to see Larry get really well before returning. Let him rest another week or two - we certainly won't need him on Tuesday against Academy of Art - and frankly his performance injured has not helped the team since the Montana tournament. Even in Montana, while he played great, he did have a seemingly inordinate number of travel calls which I attribute to his injury hampering his mobility. We can beat UCSB without Larry - just need to stop their 6'5" scorers and we have the size to do that. Good point on those travel calls. In that first exhibition game he looked very fresh with his footwork and ballhandling. Clearly finishing at the hoop and getting good balance lift on your shot would be affected by the weak achilles but I hadn't also considered what it might do to not only slow down, but hamper his footwork and ballhandling.

One other point regarding those travel calls - some of them were just wrong. I've been watching the videos of a couple of the games - so this isn't memory. It's slow motion, watching the feet. Both he and Viney had a couple of very solid moves, and were called for travels. Now - some of our guys travel more than they get called - but it frustrates me more when its a guy that's gonna put it in the basket, and it gets waved off.
Hopefully, as the season progresses, and the refs get their games together, those calls will disappear.

Personally, I feel pretty good this game is just about a pick-em. If I remember correctly UCSB was picked to win their league. Would be a quality win.
Go Liona

Good start. LMU up 30-28 with 3:39 left in the half. Viney with 13! Holding OJ to only 2 points.
Keep up the strong play Lions!

Just sat down and heard the last two minutes of the half. We sound awful. I see UCSB has seven threes, and they only average six a game. Hopefully they played their best half, and we are only down four.
We need to win a home game! Protect Hank's House!

I realize the student doing the halftime show on KXLU probably wasn't born when the 1989-1990 Elite Eight run happened, but please tell him we averaged more than 90 points per game...it was actually 122.4!!!
Can you imagine SCORING 122 points in a game, let alone AVERAGE that for a 32-game season? That truly was unreal.
Ok, back to the present. Let's hope they cool off. Get some rebounds, and don't turn the ball over. Go Lions!

Yeah, it won't continue, but when they miss we HAVE to rebound. Just gave up a second-chance basket, down 43-37.

Down 49-44. I honestly think UCSB has scored on every trip down court in the first 4 1/2 minutes of the second half. Twice they missed, but they got the offensive rebound and scored each time (including the upcoming free throws coming out of the timeout). We are lucky we are only down five! C'mon defense and rebounding!
