CSN drops LMU down to #25. The coaches have Portland Sta Clara and SMC receiving votes.
The Big 10 (6) is off to a poor start. They won't be sending 5 teams if they keep this up.
Isn't it a Title IX violation that only 48 mens teams go to the tournament while 64 womens teams go? Wouldn't there be a bit of screaming going on if it was the other way around?

LMU shuts out Oral Roberts 2-0. Mitch Boland and Conner Huntsicker both scored in the second half. The real test on this trip comes against Tulsa on Sunday.
Oral Roberts lost a scrimmage in preseason 6-3 to Tulsa, which means the game could be interesting.
Tonight Logan McDaniel assisted on Boland's goal off a free kick and Da Silva assisted on Conner's goal. It was good to see Logan in the game tonight as he left the Sac State game with a knock toward the end of regulation. Glad to see he is able to play and contribute.

No rest for the weary, the Lions face UCR this weekend on Sullivan Field. The Lions will be looking for some goal scoring chemistry after the shutout in Tulsa. UCR was only picked to finish 7th in the Big West. They will be looking for more respect after trouncing Sac State 3-0 last week. No easy games for the Lions on the schedule this year.

The Lions made it look easy in a four - one win over UCR. After dropping the opener to Sacramento and UCR tromping them 3-0 how does this happen? The Lion starting centerbacks were solid, there can't be many as good as Bolen and Downes anywhere!! The Lions had four go in but could have easily had many more. Lots of Lions got time on the field today. Freshman Ryan Felix got his first goal by being alert and in the right place. Check out his post game interview to meet the newest Lion star! www.lmulions.com/sports/m-soccer/recaps/090911aad.html He impressed me with his willingness to jump and go after the ball. Paldino also got into the game as keeper after the score was 3-0. He gave up one goal but looked sharp stopping another shot that looked as if it was in. His leg is another weapon that will put other defenses under immediate pressure.

It's over in Westwood with UCLA 2- LMU 1. Hard to get a feeling for the game from Game Tracker. The biggest call for the Lions was a red card to McDaniel in the 13th minute. The Lions came back from 2-0 to score on a PK in the second half. Looked like lots of frustration on the Lion's part with a handful of yellows. Lions will have to earn a rematch to get even with the Bruins in the post season.

The Lions lost to New Mexico 2-0 Friday night and travelled to Wisconsin to meet the Badgers tomorrow at 1pm. Wisconsin has been waiting at home for a week for the Lions, but I wouldn't count the Lions out yet. They have played a tough schedule and while they haven't been on the winning side as often as they have wanted they can and have played tough. I think the Badgers will have their hands full tomorrow with the Lions!

The Lions start their second season Wednesday in San Diego. The Lions press the restart button and have to remember they are even in the WCC race as they face the Toreros. The Lions will need to repeat as champs to gain a berth in the tournament after a disappointing preseason. The road to win the WCC is not an easy one but the Lions are capable of doing just that. The conference season gives them a second chance to do just that. The WCC looks to just get one entry into the tournament again this year. The Lions can still surprise everyone and find their way to both the championship and the tournament.

Another tough loss in San Diego. Still there were some good things happening out there. The Lions need to bounce back with a win at home Sunday against SMC. The Lions are struggling a bit to connect with each other on offense and finish. They had a couple of close chances that just didn't happen Wednesday night. San Diego scored two soft goals, the first I'm not sure what happened but it seemed to just trickle in, the second looked like the Lions were looking for an offside call that never came and forced the keeper off his line.

Big game on Sullivan Field tomorrow against Santa Clara. The boys had a big win on the road in Portland scoring three goals. Time to keep the momentum rolling with another win against the Broncos. Go LIONS!

Overtime win for the Lions!
One - Nothing!
Pins and needles for ninety plus minutes and almost ten minutes more until the Lions scored on a picture perfect combination feed from Jozkowicz to Krumpe overlapping to the corner flag and a cross to freshman John McFarlin who headed the winning goal into the top corner from ten yards out.
It was a battle the entire game with both team having chances but both teams unable to score. The outcome was in doubt until the final play.
The first card of the game was a straight red to Santa Clara after Sears was taken down and had to be helped off the field. The advantage was short lived until Craig Nitti received another straight red for an elbow to the face of a Bronco defender.
The referee started handing out yellows in the second half to regain control of the game. I had the sense that the Lions had more of the possession and Santa Clara relied on counter attacks even though they were credited with more shots on goal.
The Lions brought in a number of subs searching for the winning combination. Toward the end of the second half McFarlin who had a lot of minutes playing outside mid was moved to center mid and started to have a lot more success moving the ball and distributing it. He found his spot at the end of Krumpe's cross to bury the winner.
The Lions needed this win to keep on track. They sure looked like they were having fun at the end.

The two vetranos made the team play at the crucial moment and gave the freshman a chance to be the hero. He didn't disappoint.
