I'll say. Thanks for passing along. Interesting to see where this goes.

Interesting - did LMU get a raw deal under Max with their trip to Spain and no star recruits from the Canarias?

Ronin - we should go after Watson but his options might be broad. Like UCLA or another "top-name" school.

I'm having a hard time figuring out a logic path that Watson might use to think LMU would be a good option. I can see transferring to a quality Pac 12 team who is one good PG away from a solid ncaa run in two years.

LMU has a 0% chance at Watson and here is why:
1. I don't think LMU would recruit him, not worth upsetting Tutu and team chemistry. He only went to El Camino for his senior year, so Ray Johnson (our assistant) was only his head coach for one season. So it isn't like they had a great four year relationship.
2. Watson wouldn't come to LMU, as previously mentioned, he would go to a major conference to a tournament team (if he wants to transfer).
3. This may not apply here because the coach was fired but sometimes they can restrict where a player transfers (like within the conference), either way we won't get any news until we find out who the new coach is.

I'm not sure if you guys remember watching the games on TV, but both times SF lost to LMU, the camera would pan to Devin Watson on the bench..and both times he looked DEVASTATED, like hands in face sad possibly crying. Based on that reaction it seems like he wanted to badly beat LMU and his old coach and probably Dunlap out of pain. We keep thinking that Ray Johnson was hired to get Watson, but what if Dunlap on a recruiting trip just liked Johnson and decided to hire the coach on the trip? It could have been a Watson or assistant coach decision and if Watson really wanted to stay local but didnt want to play for that coach?? What if Dunlap chose the assistant over a top recruit? If Watson wants to go to another school he should probably go to Arizona or Washington or a school like that.

Coach Lamont Smith is really cleaning house at USD and bringing in his own guys. Russell Springmann on his staff was named one of the best recruiters outside the power 6. With all the new coaches and large recruiting classes there are going to be a lot of new faces in the WCC.
Players leaving:
Khalil Bedart-Ghani Marcus Harris Vasilije Pusica
New offers: Jashaun Agosto guard 2.7 star
Players just committed:
Quin Barnard (Walk on) 2 star Nassir Barrino point guard 2 star
Players already committed:
Frank Ryder 6-10 center 2 star José 'Jose' Martinez 6-10 center 2 star Mark Carbone 6-2 shooting guard 2 star

Interesting story - good luck to Smith to rebuild down south. Hopefully, he doesn't do too good of a job vs LMU

Difficult way for the zags season to end. They had the game in hand against the orange book blew it big-time.

Really the same problems they had most of the year - inconsistent guard play and almost nothing from the bench.

One of the fundamental reasons LMU has not been able to sustain a good basketball program is Bill Husack. He is a real putz.

I like how LMU has actually had pretty good success in sports since he took over, the problem is the success and conference titles have come in pretty much every sport, except men's basketball. Although Women's Volleyball and Soccer aren't exactly money makers they both reached the Sweet 16 this year, not too many schools can say they reached two Sweet 16's.
