Having Gonzaga strengthens conference RPI and helps every school in the conference recruit. We are better off with them. It is possible to get another team from the conference an at large bid considering we are 8th ranked conference in the country. We just need for another team to have a great season. We don’t have another consistent team in the conference. I thought it would be USF but they’ve recently fell off. St Mary’s could’ve made it last year but they had 2 disappointing losses at end of the season and loss to 2 lower tier high majors in Georgia and Washington st in there out of conference schedule. If we have a team win some big games out of conference and lose no more than 3 games in conference(2 of them being to Gonzaga) then that team would definitely get in.

Dons fans are concerned they may lose Kyle Smith to Cal, where Wyking Jones is not delivering the goods. I think USF has a new AD.

Smith has been tremendous at USF - he had more success in one year than Dunlap has had in five.

Per Verbal Commits- 2019 C Oumar Ballo (6-10, 245, 5★) committed to Gonzaga. Had offers from Arizona and Baylor.
Probably puts the Zags 2019 Class into top 5 in the nation.

Assuming no transfers, Gonzaga is going to be loaded at the PF/C position for the next 4-5 years (arguably more so then they already have been). No team in the WCC will be able to compete with them, only hope is that they have poor guard play. With this signing they now how 5 4+ star recruits and consensus top 100 players in the country in this recruiting class, 4 of which play PF/C. Bigs at Gonzaga also seem to improve more than any other position at any other school I can think of (just go to espn and look at the stats year over year for some of their current and recent bigs). So add those 4 next year to a healthy Tillie, Brandon Clarke, and current freshman Petrusev... Then the year after that you will have Petrusev and those 4 for the next 2 years. Gonzaga is at a different level than the rest of the WCC and that doesnt seem to be changing any time soon.

The rich get richer. Maybe the WCC needs a “talent” tax on too many stars for players on a team?

Tille, Clark and definitely Hachimura should be entering the draft.

Interesting fact before becoming a two-time oscar winner, Mahershala Ali (then Gilmore) played D-I basketball at St. Mary's from 1992-96.

Rooting for Saint Marys tonight, right now they are projected as the first team out, need to win tonight to get in the tourney. I personally don't think Saint Marys s a tourney team, but would be nice to get 2 teams in from the conference again.
