Some of the stuff getting thrown around here is interesting and really quite baffling. When and where did anyone read about Shawn making excuses about his knee this year? I know the kid had surgery and rushed back after about 4 weeks. I dont know what to expect of him this year but he was not the the player during the year he was prior to his injury. So for people to be writing him of seems a little overboard. I'm anxious to get over and see how he looks. Because if AA coach is that confident in how S Dot looks, then he obviously is healthy and much improved. Has anyone else seen any of their pickup? and when are they playing?

sdot's always a hot topic I don't see him as a starter not from what we saw last season. If he has improved over the summer and is now healthy I look forward to seeing him on the court. I'm not going to call you out AA because I do not know and defer to your access. What I do know is he's a really good guy and would love to see him excel. But buckle up, we've got a few more months of darkness before the season starts and we can really evaluate the situation. Until then we can only go off of a glowing bio and what we saw last season.

Let's not get too caught up with shawn's shot getting blocked. It happens. This is a game of b'ball, anything can happen.
Just based on seniority alone, I would have Ziri on the starting lineup, but frankly I haven't been satisfied with him on the court. I would actually welcome rodney's boldness if he decides to start a new player instead of Ziri.

Thank you, he is a man so I'm sure he can handle the blows but there is a strong vibe here that is good and bad. Gosh I hate message boards we have enough of them here in Sunny Arizona. I appreciate your comments. Message boards can be a wild animal. Just take a quick browse though the "WCC boards" and you'll find plenty of drama and some mad houses. *plug* Everyone has an opinion and they will likely all be different. But these opinions, speculations, and agreements make the game even more entertaining for those in the stands. ;D One thing is for sure... I hope this team, each player, can handle the pressure. We are coming into a season where everyone will be writing us off and it is going to take toughness to deal with these detractors. We'll need a team confident in their skills and committed to winning. If there was ever a time to really show what you got it will be this fall in Gersten. We won't have a Worthy, Knight, or Miller around to bail us out these guys have to have it in them. This is an exciting time for RT and lions fans. There are a lot of mysterious variables on the roster but if the players stay strong mentally and physically (starters and bench) we will prove the detractors wrong and have a very successful season.

Kudos to AA Coach for the chatter on the very debatable topic. This board is now getting HOT! Got to love that. We just increased the board membership by one this evening. Thanks to Mr. Shawn Deadwiler, Sr. (like the board name...dead3man). Keeping it real cool in AZ! Welcome and we are glad to have Shawn in the LMU family.
With that being said, I know dead3man has requested "Please don't throw my sons name around in a bad publicity arena." However, if the players are viewing these boards and are not mentally tough enough, we are just going to be eaten alive when it comes to the on the basketball floor antics from other teams.
Any others have opinion on the starting line up. AA Coach and I should agree to disagree on the one position.
Go Lions!

Fanblade how do you make those boxes to pull a quote from someone else's blog, I like that. At the top of every post is a heading, and in the right corner there are two buttons. and If you hit the quote button it'll pull up a standard reply box and put that message in the quote box!

New to the site but since I got a call to take a look I did. Let me clear the air. I became a LMU fan in April of Last year and I'M a true fan seeing I'm SDOTs dad. I guess thats the nickname for Shawn Deadwiler. Shawn will get a chance to play and we appreciate the LMU family for bringing him aboard. Lets let his and every players hard work get it done and I look forward to following LMU this year and for all the years to come. Please don't throw my sons name around in a bad publicity arena. Thank you, he is a man so I'm sure he can handle the blows but there is a strong vibe here that is good and bad. Gosh I hate message boards we have enough of them here in Sunny Arizona. If Shawn has to wait his turn in line and contribute by cheering his team on each game he will get the job done. No excuses he's not that type of man. Its weird using the word man when I'm still trying to let him be his own man. Good insight on here, I will make sure I tell him about the good support on this board for him. I will look in more often and see. I don't think he's at 185 last I looked on saturday but maybe he grew some more when he got there lol.... Oh I'm from the old school, I beleive in putting my name in my post. S. Deadwiler Sr... I have been bitting my tough for more than 24 hours with this comment, but I have to just come out and say this.... AA Coach had simply the most rediculous suggestion of having Shawn Deadwiler being in the staring line up this year (interesting how when we solicit others...vast majority tend to go with JZ), but even more baffling (and something that proves my point on Deadwiler not yet being ready to contribute in a starting role) is that someone alerts Deadwiler's father about the simple true facts that are posted on this board. And then Deadwiler's father not only reads the posts, but also comes full circle to join the message board and circle the publicity wagon to implicitly defend his son. In all my years, I have not seen a player's parents come and defend his or her son or daughter in a public forum. Doesn't that seem odd to the rest of you on the board? Have you ever seen any professional basketball player's parents go to the media and defend his or her son or daughter's play on the court? I think not. What I think and believe is that Deadwiler's action on the court should speak for itself. Last year he did not get it done on the court when he was out there (albeit only approx. 9 minutes a game; played in 19 games). Simple fact. I hope he returns this year with a vengence (not to mention added lbs.) and contributes like he is capable of and what we hoped he would. If he can stay injury free, he will contribute to this year's team success. There is no doubt if Deadwiler concentrates and focuses, he will be a great asset to the team. AA Coach....I hope I am Dead Wrong as I would like Deadwiler to start, but it simply looks very doubtful for this year....Take away your bias and post objective viewpoints on the board. Are you one of Deadwiler senior's "Full Court Press boys" out of "Riverside" that he refers to? Come on tell us the truth as your great support for Deadwiler shines through on the message board? __________________________________ Signature How to increase attendance at LMU Basketball Games 1) Tell someone you know that does not attend games about LMU Basketball and have them join you at a game; 2) Call the athletic office and ask what they are doing to bring awareness of LMU basketball to the community (let alone its own student population) 3) Donate your tax deductible contribution specifically to LMU Men's Basketball and have it tagged for increased publicity.

Dont let this message board turn into what its beggining to look like. AA Coach thinks shawn will start, Lions pride you think it will be JZ. Enough said. Personal jabs and things have no business in here. Lets leave that kind of stuff for the Pepp Board. Everyone chill out and lets just see who the starter is come October/November. I'm not so sure B Walker doesnt have a shot at getting in the mix. But lets just wait and see.
I just hope we can use our energy not to battle each other but rather to make a more concerted effort to hate on some of the teams that arent in our Lion Family

dead3man:
I respect you and your words are noted. As I have said before, we are glad to have Shawn on the team and in the LMU Lions faimily.

I think since the school is back in session Gersten isn't as availible for pick up. I have noticed some of the new comers ( Jenkins, Johnson, Tuner, Walker) in Burns rec.
Go Lions!
