Good to hear that JZ is showing leadership. I really can't wait for our season to start, maybe we can pull another upset on gonzaga on our home court?

I really can't wait for our season to start Seriously, I'm already sick of football. I see a lot of the young guys around the gym too.

Does anyone know when coach tention will announce the starting lineup?

I don't know, but it better include John Ziri and Marco Deric. For experience to be coming of the bench is ridiculous. If Ziri is the leader of this team as Tention has been quoted, then it would be a travesty to have our lone senior leading by example on the bench at the start of the opening game. JZ has had some ups and downs over the years. No one can deny that, but I tell you not having JZ in the starting line up will not go over well. Can you imagine that blow to someone's mindset and the coach telling you..."yes, you are the only senior and one of two individuals that have major D1 experience and our leader on this team, but I think you should be coming off the bench and striving to become the best sixth man in the WCC this year". If JZ comes off the bench, watch out....the coach may have lost all production from JZ before he steps on the court.

That tends to be my sentiment as well. Coach tention will make that decision with team's best interest in mind. We just have to get behind and support his decision.
However, I am looking for official words here. The first game is less than 10 days away, if anyone has information as to whom will start, please do tell.

alert2, I sure hope that Deric is a "lock", but I am not confident in that. I think the coaches are requiring Deric to play more with his back to the basket. I am not sure if that is Deric's natural mindset. I hope he adjusts accordingly and is in the starting line up.
dead3man, I hear you but this board is a forum to throw around ideas as well. My idea to have JZ in the starting line up is that he is a senior and his skills are equal to others that are competing with him. From what I see in the basketball world, most coaches give the nod to seniors in this situation and will not consider others until the senior does not execute to the coaches desire.

I think JZ will start and Deric. Even though Marko may need time to adjust he's got the best body to play under the net and step into MK's role. JZ will get the nod because he's a senior and very competent. It would be an insult to reward a scholarship player for all his years of dedication to be sitting on the bench... but then again Adoyah Miller was not even pictured on the media guide and that didn't hurt his spirits.

You have to start senior leadership. Freshmen need to ride the pine and pay their dues.
Sincerely,
Kevin Durant
Ditto...

Greg Oden

Shooting was our weak point last year, so hopefully Rodney will drill that into them this year. It might be an improvement to just concentrate on close range shots until some of the freshmen get a consistent long-range stroke figured out.

The best shooter I can think of in the last 2-3 years is west wardrop, but he didn't start making those shots until his senior year.
Adoyah was pretty good last year too, but it's true, shooting hasn't been our strength for as long as I can remember. I get a feeling coach tention is more of a hard-nose, physical type of coach whose team doesn't rely much on outside shooting.
