Someone casually mentioned "Osborne" in a recent posting and I found this on Alex.
Power forward from Pacific High Schools in LA. Rated 85 by the scouts - this may be the "banger" we need inside. 6'7" 220. Vinson type with growth potential?? Looks like a good add to me - so long Sutton!
Scouting reports:
December, 2008: Osborne has all the intangibles to be a solid 4-man in the Big West Conference. He has an impressive frame with very long arms and overall solid length. He has solid lift, but he is far from a quick leaper. He doesn't have great feet, but he pivots well and projects to being a solid face-up power forward for the next level. He can step-out and nail the jump shot at the elbow and his release is solid. In addition, he is strong rebounder and overall a tough competitor.
June, 2008: Osborne possesses the frame and skill package to compete at the Division I level. He is a physical specimen with decent bounce and he has a soft pair of hands. In addition to his physical attributes he has nasty streak about him that college coaches covet. He has solid fundamentals and he shows great patience when maneuvering inside. He has the ability to take opponents off the bounce and can finish in transition with a powerful dunk despite having defenders hanging all over him. He has a solid face-up game with range on his shot out to 15 feet and his left handed finishes have improved since the regular season. Overall, Osborne is a solid four-man for the Big West Conference and quite possibly the WCC if his game continues to progress.
December, 2007: Osborne has a frame (broad shoulders and quite lengthy) that implies that a growth is very likely. He has huge feet, long arms, and his skills are coming together as well. He's a good athlete with solid bounce and he runs well. His skills are still developing but he uses either hand equally well in the post and his fundamentals (understands how to utilize the pivot and jump stop) are solid as well. His court demeanor is excellent and he is quite the competitor as well. He loves to face-up and hit the jump shot or drive to the basket. His shot is solid and he has range out to 20 feet. Osborne is a late bloomer and it wouldn't surprise me that a year from now he may find himself signing with a high-major program.
November, 2007: The biggest surprise at the Redondo Pacific Shores tournament this past week was the emergence of super sleeper Alex Osborne. He has a significant upside with a lengthy frame and huge feet. In addition, he displayed the necessary skills and savvy to be an outstanding "four-man" at the mid-major level.
