I like our recruits a - at least from an offensive standpoint. Looks like we have got 3 shooter/scorers which should really give us nice balance on O. Whether it's a good class or not will come down to how well these guys play D. I feel like this is the deepest team we have had in a long time (assuming Herman is healthy). Already looking forward to next season.

Also, reading the Kentucky press's assessment of Santa Clara recruit Tai Wynyard suggests that he has had some significant issues (health, suspension). For his sake, hopefully all behind him - but issues nonetheless. Even the NZ press suggested that his fortunes had dimmed considerably since coming over the U.S. to play.

Wunyard can't be all that bad if he played in 15 games as a Freshman at Kentucky.

It’s all projection and, at least for me, I haven’t seen him so it’s pure speculation; and, if last season is a guide, worrthless. I recall last year that many thought Santa Clara’s Ivy League transfer was going to be all conference. He wasn’t a starter on a middling Broncos team. Conversely, a USD transfer from Portland State was among the top newcomers. I don’t think any of us had even heard of the JC from which Batemon matriculated in North Dakota, I hadn’t. Yet, he was All- Conference and selected one of the five All-Tournament players. As a returning senior, Batemon will most likely be a pre-season All-Conference selection. One person on this board said his friend - a Pac-12 assistant said LMU freshman Dawson will be LMU’s best player from Day 1. Hard to believe but who knows. Let’s wait and see before grading blind.

Douglas. My friend did say that to me and he is an assistant coach and recruiter for a university in the Pac-12. He went to a smaller school and was hurt for a while this year, but he was seen because of the young point guard on the team. "The Douglas kid is a high major type school recruit, maybe a glue type guy for a year. But not for you guys. He's probably your best player day 1. Defense, transition, iso, shot out to the stripe." He did like Gipson, who hasn't shown me much, and I think one other kid who wasn't that good, but the only other players he mentioned like that where Jared Dubois, "He should have waited a bit, he'll be real nice player for you, and Orlando Johnson, "There was a tournament late where everyone realized they missed on this kid. I tried to poach him and I wasn't alone, but it was too late." But, yeah, I'd be surprised if Douglas isn't pretty damn good. Recruiting and spotting talent is obviously not an exact science, but my friend has a pretty big house at this point.

Also, I would like it to be noted as far as Batemon, I did notice him. I don't know how to search my posts but as IrelandNepal or Shreddahead I def pointed out a sight rating him as one of the top 50 Jucos and looked up his stats, which where insane. Sure, I didn't know much about North Dakota College of Minerals or whatever, but he scored a ton and got assists. He could have been a globetrotter plating robots on gilligan's island, but 90 percent free throws and 45 percent 3's is impressive against ghosts, old dudes at the YMCA or just even by yourself really. Batemon is legit. This team could be good or bad. If they're bad, which is what they've been my whole adult life, then the new AD gets a new coach. If they're good, I'll put my foot in my mouth.

In addition to the recruits, another key to our success this season will be the play of Petr Herman. If he picks up where he left off two seasons ago, I.e., playing fearless basketball, we could be very good especially if last season’s freshmen have further developed their games over the summer. But then I’m the optimist at this time of the year.

For sure Douglas looks solid and probably has some responsibility and shine taken from him due to his top prospect teammate.
I hope that Dunlap who is most likely intimidated by Lavar shows the same long leash for Douglas,
I’d love to see this lineup
PG Batemon SG McClendon SF Douglas PF Scott C Herman
Allen for Bateman or McClendon Johansson for Douglass Williams for Scott Markussen for Herman
Let them play Brad Stevens style . We don’t have the skill or athletes to play GS switch everything D or pull up js. Nor do we have the pure shooting of D’Antoni style.
We’re good enough for 6 or 7 in conference

Let's not forget Ivan Alipiev. Sure, he's only a freshman but the kid can flat out shoot. Again, we'll have to see how he defends but he might be the best pure outside shooter on the team.

Alipiev led Bulgaria the Under19 championship recently and was tourney MVP. He kind looks like a player to me actually. 6'7 kid who's def not a stiff. He can shoot. This kid can shoot from deep.
