Digg's a nice pickup for UCR.
Scout is calling Ameer Shamsud-din a possible high-major prospect. Glad to see LMU in the mix and it looks like the wcc is all over Jones.

At one point, it seemed as if Ameer Shamsud-din would join the commitment parade that's been going on the past few weeks. But the all-around 6-foot-2, 175-pound point guard from Benson Tech High School in Portland has instead chosen to wait with the intention of earning more options. Shamsud-din is playing the rest of the circuit with brand-new teammates on I-5 Elite and after a great showing this past weekend at the Rivals.com Summer Showcase in Las Vegas, his patience appears to have paid off.
Add another offer on the table for Ameer Shamsud-din "The tournament went really good," Shamsud-din said. "We went to the semi-finals and we should have gone to the championship game, but we shot really terrible where nobody could make a shot. I really like our team - we're unselfish."
Over the course of the four-day tournament, Shamsud-din did what he's always done - play a solid all-around game where he tried to make those around him better. "I played pretty good," Shamsud-din said. "I think I made a good impression. Everything for me was at the point and I could do what I do. I think I opened up a lot of coaches' eyes."
There were certainly plenty of eyes on the sidelines following Shamsud-din around. Coaches from Shamsud-din's current list of schools - Oregon State, Loyola Marymount, SMU, and Nevada mainly - were on hand to watch his games. One in particular saw enough to elevate their interest in the point guard.
"Loyola Marymount has offered," Shamsud-din said. "It's a nice school. I've been down to their campus before for the Best of Summer tournament, but I never knew it was their campus until they told me. But it's really nice - I like it there. As for the program, I've got to learn more about them."
One program Shamsud-din does know enough about is Oregon State, who has long had an offer on the table. He still thinks highly of the Beavers but continues to keep his options open. "I feel good about them," shamsud-din said. "Jay John was at all of my games and I still talk to them. But I feel that everybody is on the same page right now."
Whereas others around the state are making early commitments, it does appear that Shamsud-din will take his time. He's got more games to play with I-5 Elite, more coaches to impress, and hopefully more offers to earn as a result.
"I feel good about our team," Shamsud-din said. "We did better than I expected, especially since this was the first time we played together. But we're a strong team and now I want to go out and win some championships."

those summer camps are paying off. Glad loyola is on his radar. OSU seems to be all over him. PAC10 is nice but the beavers program went 3-15 and I remember one of their TV games against maybe USC was flatout embarassing. I'd never seen a drubbing like that on television before, wished FSN would have just blacked out, out of respect for the families... That's got to be in the back of Amirs mind.

Found a couple of interesting things on the internet that I haven't seen mentioned here: From Full court press: 6’3” senior Quamaine Crymes (Joel John/Los Angeles CA) is a strong and athletic wing that is hearing from Long Beach State, Portland State, Loyola Marymount and New Mexico State Also we're not mentioned with this guy, but I wonder if our newly established connection with Westchester could pay off? We have an open scholarship and we are looking for a wing next year. We could always redshirt one of our wings in this class. Class of 2007 grad 6’6” Dane Suttle (Westchester/Los Angeles CA) got some great news this past week when he learned that he had officially qualified for NCAA freshman eligibility. The 2006 LA City Player of the Year is a big wing with a tremendous outside stroke that was drawing serious interest from the likes of Kansas State, New Mexico State and Long Beach State before he was thought to have to go the JUCOwww.drawingboard.simplysmartwebs.com/page/page/4846248.htm

I think Suttle is a bit of academic liablity. Crymes doesn't have a proflie on scout nor rivals... With few open spots we need to get a high impact guy....

It would have been nice to get Rahon but I think we were off his list a while ago. There are still a number of great players out there.

Here's an excerpt from Colorado Preps about another recruit
Mullen's New Two Sport Star Adam Munsterteiger ColoradoPrepReport.com
Former Denver (Colo.) Mullen standout Devin Aguilar signed with Washington last recruiting cycle, hoping to play both basketball and football at the college level. The Mustangs feature another talented two-sport star in Terrence Dent this year.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound athlete has an offer from a Division-1 program in football, and six scholarship offers for basketball.
Wyoming offered Dent for football, shortly after he excelled at their summer camp.
"They really liked me, they thought I got better every day during the camp and they said that they liked how I stepped up when the competition stepped up," he said of Wyoming. "I am giving them a good look right now."
Linebackers coach Marty English is responsible for Dent's recruitment from the Pokes' staff.
"I am from Laramie, I moved to Denver from there at the beginning of last school year, so I have always been a Cowboys fan and I like the campus up there," he expressed. "My dad (Shawn Dent) played basketball there (between 1983-87) and I have a bunch of friends and cousins that went to Wyoming.
"Yesterday I was up there for their season opener against Virginia and it was just an amazing atmosphere. 31,000 loyal fans packed that stadium. It was pretty fun."
A combo guard on the basketball court, Dent was named first-team all-league and honorable mention all-state as a junior. He averaged 15 points, six rebounds and four assists per game.
Northern Colorado, Denver, Air Force, Dartmouth, Weber State and Loyola Marymount have all offered Dent a scholarship for hoops.
"This weekend after our football game against Montbello on Thursday night, I am going to fly out to Ogden, Utah, to visit Weber State (9/7)," he said. "And then the next weekend I am going to Dartmouth (9/14) and the weekend after that I am going to take a visit out to Loyola Marymount (9/21)."
Is Dent currently leaning towards playing either sport in college? "I am having a hard time making a decision with that," he said. "Right now I am torn. I want to play a couple more football games and see how it goes for me and then I'll see if I can make a decision on which sport I'll play in college."

I have the same fear. I hope LMU is ready to keep up. Coaching staffs for Pep, GU, SMC and SCU are working in overdrive.
Thank you for the updates RunTheSystem2 and Gaelhoopsfreak.

Your welcome Fanblade !
We are pretty psyched about Chiverton. He will give us some outside shooting help that we really need, and he is very athletic.
There are plenty of great kids around ........ Have the Lions gotten any verbals yet this year ? Chiverton was our first, and then we are getting the Indiana Transfer who has to sit out this year.
Good luck, I have fond memories of Gathers / Kimble era !
Freak ....... is out
