It seems as if these are good recruits, but I firmly believe that we need a center. We have many young guards and small forwards and need to focus on a strong center. LMU did well with an inside outside game with Knight-Worthy. However, when either was on the bench it made it easy for opponents to defend us. Max Craig is developing but not quick enough on his feet. Not sure if you can develop that in a player. It seems to come natural. Rodney, let's focus on a power forward/center.

Rodney focused on recruiting center/forward in his first year. He brought in Marko, Max and Jason Maynard. All are at least 6'9, Max is a 7 footer.

True, we'll be looking for a guard to replace Ziri our lone senior.
We also have Sweezy and Sutton joining Deric, Craig, and Maynard the front court for us. They were RS last season so it'll be interesting to see what development has gone on since HS.

Do we know who if anyone on that list we have offered a scholarship to? I would be interested to see which of those kids are our main targets and which if any are kids the coaches have just been in contact with.
Also, the team is hosting a High School tournament in both Gersten and the rec. it started last night and I think goes through sometime Sunday. There was no charge to get in yesterday and it looks like some pretty good teams are in it. I dont know which of our targets are there, but possibly some new ones too.

I think we have offered to Ranger and Rahon. I believe the tournament in the gyms is a local one we host. The big tournament to watch out for is the Addias Best of Summer which comes in late July... and is a huge AAU tournament.

I realize that we lose Ziri after this year, but the focus needs to be going bigger.

I realize that we lose Ziri after this year, but the focus needs to be going bigger. If they can run, I'm on board with that.

I realize that we lose Ziri after this year, but the focus needs to be going bigger. Well like I said, coach tention already brought in a few big guys in his first year. We don't need more big guys, we just need to make them better.

Looks like summer recruiting is in full swing.
from rivals:
I-5 Elite took out Lakeshow 62-46 behind 2008 point guard Ameer Shamsud-din. The smooth 6-foot-2, 175-pound Portland Benson athlete offers from Oregon State, LMU, SMU, Santa Barbara and Nevada, with the Beavers looking like the team to beat.
Talk about it in Basketball Recruiting Board Chris Jones, the 6-foot-4 athletic combo guard from Newark Memorial (Calif.) High has gotten off to a hot spring on the club circuit. Playing for California Hoops of Los Angeles, Jones played well at the prestigious Boo Williams Tournament in Virginia.
"Chris played well at the Boo Williams tournament," said Mike Lewis, the head coach of California Hoops. "He played well on both ends of the court and he was very strong going to the basket. Chris played consistent for us."
Jones started the spring circuit with a good showing at the Boo Williams tournament California Hoops lost some close games to Boo Williams in overtime by one point and to Howard Pulley by three points and Jones' steady play helped the team advance to the finals of the Bronze division. Jones played in his first tournament for California Hoops after coming over to the team from NorCal Elite, which is currently not playing in the spring.
Playing for Newark Memorial this past season, Jones averaged 16 points and eight rebounds a game and he was named all-league in he Mission Valley Athletic League. Various schools from throughout the west coast flew in to see him play and his recruitment should jump start this spring and summer.
Schools recruiting Jones include San Jose State, Santa Clara, TCU, LMU, Washington State, San Diego State, UNLV, Miami, Illinois and Oklahoma State.
"There are a lot of schools recruiting me hard now," said Jones. "To me though, it does not matter where I go. I just want to go to a place that is a good fit for me."
Chris' father, Pastor Horacio Jones, says that going to a school with the right fit is the number one thing for his son.
"From a basketball perspective, I want Chris to be on a team, where he will be an intrical part of competing for a conference championship," said the elder Jones. "A program that has demonstrated an ability to develop guards, with a strong emphasis on defense."
In analyzing Jones' game, he is a lock down defender and an athletic combo guard who can score in a multitude of ways. "[Chris] is the complete package," said Lewis. He is also a very unselfish player as well."
