Well to all to include Lionspride. After my request for info with respect to your statement that you had watched the Young Lions workout/play 8 times I decided to fly up and see for myself.
I met with the coaching staff and I can say they are ALL EXCITED about this upcoming season and busy as hell. Talked to Brandon Worthy (My Guy) about how he felt about the upcoming season as he worked out rehabbing his knee and on top of all that worked out with each Guard on the LMU squad. The only player that wasn't on the floor was JZ he's currently rehabbing his ankle but should be fine by Monday if not sooner.
As for 2010 class versus 2011 class I will say they are BOTH GREAT. I will say I think the 2011 class is more athletic but the coaches recruited a 7-0 Footer, 2 6-9 Post players a 6-6 PF and a 6-3 /SG last year so I think this year was about atletic players not BIGs so the comparisons are way off. This year they recruited all SG/SF's and 1 PG. Post players are being taught how to play in the blocks like Matthew Knight, get your butt down on the defenders knee when you post so when you get the ball its one move not two or three to get the shot up.
When you look at this young lineup and given some time to grow with the support of us all we have:
1 7-0 Footer - True Center
4 6-9 Players - Power Forwards
1 6-6 Player - 1 Power/Small Forward (Sweezy Works out with the Bigs)
3 6-4 to 6-5 - Small Forwards/Shooting Guards
3 6-1 to 6-3 - Poing Guard/Shooting Guards
2 5-10 walk ons 1 that will play tons of minutes
This season is wide open. This is a team that is getting along and working hard. Some will have a rude awakening once Coach T gets his hands on them full time, 12 Oct 07 because he's going to work them hard and the transition from HS to D1 is going to be tough but I beleive from what I saw this whole team will be very competitive. They don't like to miss they take it personal and are very competitive. They need our full support.
There is NO BRANDON WORTHY or MATTHEW KNIGHT on this years team just a bunch of HUNGRY LIONS that want and need our support win lose or draw. Lets generate some positive stuff and get this message board popping with interest to get everyone out.
