Maynard and Deadwiler received some good minutes for freshman considering all our injuries last year. That may be a blessing (the experience gained), but some performances by these two looked dismal at times.
Agree with the Maynard comments. I have seen him this summer and he looks good and the attitude is even better. He could actually start this year ahead of Marko Deric if Deric does not do what the coaching staff wants him to do...play with his back to the basketl and bang it out.

I have not had a chance to get down there as much as last year to watch individual workouts, open gyms or just to sit down and chat with the coaches but I'm in touch weekly.
???For All. I read these post, *** or ** (Star) Athletes? Possible knocks on current recruits or how Tention recruits. My question is how many of you are out there watching Indvidual Workouts, Weight Sessions, Committment by players to get better, Talking to the staff on there expectations or outlooks besides all this writing on the board? Just a question, not trying to throw darts at anyone just want to understand where you guys are coming from.
I think this youthful team will really play hard and turn some heads but SUPPORT is required and belief in them is also. Not saying you guys don't beleive in what you have but I just can't seem to feel it out from whats being written.
Go Lions can't wait to see the hard work you guys have put in @ Madness @ Midnight.

I wouldn't say one class is better than another, not this early...not when the season hasn't even started.

Yeah I would'nt say that 2011 is better than 2010 nor would I say 2010 was better than 2006 or 5. I'm not in the business of being a critic of basketball. I would say I have to beleive in the Coach and maybe there is a method to his madness versus 3 Star or 5 Star players.
I think I'll give the coaching staff a good mark because they are the coaches and I think they know what there doing. I'm still interested in how many of you are out there watching whats going on and speaking with the staff so you understand there direction. As for me having insight, I would say not much. I let go and became a fan when mines left to become an Man... I keep an eye on the the pulse of things but how they do things is not my business, just the results. I hear the results are going well baring injuries.

I have see O.J. 8-10 times this summer and he is by far more talented than any of the recruits Tention has brought on. O.J. alone makes the class of 2011 better than 2010. I don't even need to see him in an "official" NCAA Division I game to make that assessment. That is how good this player is. He will start for the Lions this year.

It's easy to fall in love with the new kids and I believe O.J. is just as good as you say he is. I just hope we don't compare one class to another. What good does it do for the team? Nothing. Worse yet, it might create unnecessary tension in the team and among the fans. We don't want that.

John Haywood was also a 3 star in Worthy's class. Gaels, I think the star ratings are a bit random and useless, but at least somewhat of a borometer. I'm just a little nervous that it looks like were getting smoked in recruiting by most of the WCC, and especially Pepperdine. Gonzaga, I can live with, but Tension has to get at least close to the talent of Ken Starr's Clown Acedemy. Welcome shredaahead.

Coaching staffs talk about this amongst themselves and are measured to in combination of wins on the court. I assume this holds true in corporate america. People always want to hire/recruit top talent that is high potential and high performance. This is natural. To make comparisons is natural. I agree wtih you that it cannot affect the players, but players should not be reading or hearing this talk. If they decide to do so, then they should be strong enough to take it and encourage them to do better.

Weill Lionspride since you have been there at least 8 times why don't you give us your assessment/outlook for the 2007-2008 season. Would love to hear it seeing I have not been able to make it out there that much.

I have no problem with coaching staffs talking about players, they are supposed to. They will talk up on some players and perhaps make other players practice harder to catch up, but i don't think they will talk down on a player let along an entire class of recruits.
O.J. is awesome, great! But that doesn't mean the class of 2010 is inferior, this is not a zero-sum game we are talking about. Don't take jabs at our own players. I am going to have problem with that.

I am not taking any jabs at our players. Just facts. Some players are better than others or perceived better than other players. Why then is most people on this board stuck on ** vs. *** vs. **** vs. ***** recruits? Get real....stop playing the fence "lmu". You talk "how many stars" doing the recruiting phase and then want people to drop comparisons when players come onboard the team. I think that is hypocritical. There are judgments going on all the time in basketball and life.....who is in the starting line up and who sits the bench, etc. Judgments are a part of life. Let's just accept that.
GO LIONS!

Should have been at the volleyball game. Wave goons got in the face of LMU fans and tried to start physical altercations. Stopped the game in progress for about 2 minutes until the security had to remove the idiots. They must have been too excited to be up this late at night.
