Ben Allen, a 6-10 junior center from Melbourne, Australia. This is the second transfer out of IU since Sampson has come aboard. The scouting report on Big Ben is that he likes to hang around the 3pt line instead of inside which is much needed/required in the Big Ten.
Good Luck to St. Marys in the years to come I'm sure LMU is looking and ready for the challenge. The WCC gets stronger and better each year. Recruiting is getting better, got to be happy.

I will be happy when we sign a great recruit like Santa Clara, Pepperdine, St. Mary's and the Zags have. The other programs have stepped up...I don't want to be left behind.
Go Lions.

I hear you ironlions. I hope we are not left behind in this talent war. I have faith that Rodney and Co. will bring on a solid recruit shortly. Keep the faith. __________________________________ Signature How to increase attendance at LMU Basketball Games 1) Tell someone you know that does not attend games and have them join you; 2) Call the athletic office and ask what they are doing to bring awareness of LMU basketball to the community (let alone its own student population) 3) Donate your tax deductible contribution specifically to LMU Men's Basketball and have it tagged for increased publicity. I'm really hoping we can land Ameer Shamsud-din from Oregon. Maybe there someone else out there that Rodeny and Co have in mind that aren't listed on the recruiting boards.

Go Lions! Ameer Shamsud-din is a talented senior guard from the state of Oregon. He has schools in the Pac-10, WAC and WCC recruiting him...Ameer Shamsud-din, 6-2 SR PG Portland (Ore.) Benson Tech, is a very intriguing prospect with a nice upside. Shamsud-din has the size to possibly play either guard spot, with a very nice frame and solid athleticism. I spoke with Shamsud-din recently and he gave me his list of schools. “I’m hearing from Loyola Marymount, Nevada, Oregon State, San Jose State, Boise State and Nevada,” said Shamsud-din. “All of them have offered.” Shamsud-din has an official visit to LMU scheduled for next Thursday and he said he may visit Nevada sometime around Sept. 23rd. Oregon State will be coming in for an in-home visit on Monday, Sept. 10th and LMU is scheduled to come up on the 11th. I asked Shamsud-din if he feels like he’s getting close to a decision. “Yes, I’m getting close,” said Shamsud-din. “I don’t want to drag it out too long.” Shamsud-din talked a little about the factors he’ll consider when choosing a school. “I want to go to a good program, in a good environment,” said Shamsud-din. “Someplace where I can do well in school and have good people around me.”

Sounds like LMU!

Jacob Ranger, a SG we previously had an eye on signed onto UC Davis. I previously had Ranger down as having been offered but I called to confirm and that was incorrect.
UC Davis is an interesting squad. They have a tall crew. Just recently inducted into the Big West and could be interested in making a big program.

Hope we get these two kids. Wright would only be the second Scout.com 3 star to commit in the last 6 recruiting classes(Sweezy)

I hope you get both guys ! Better for the Lions, and better for the league.
Curious ........ Do you think the 4 star, 3 star, 2 star thing is over rated ?
I mean we just got a verbal from a great kid , Tim Williams. Awesome 6'9 power forward out of Antioch, CA. Picking the GAELS over Fresno St, San Diego st, UNLV, Santa Clara, and several others. Scout.com has him a 2 star , but Rivals rates him a top 4 power forward in CALIF. and in their top 40 Nationally at his position.
Obviously the stars are just a rating of that publication, but it seems that all those rankings are so subjective. Seems to me that a 2 star kid could end up being just as good as a 4 star. Any opinions ? Freak ......... is out

John Haywood was also a 3 star in Worthy's class. Gaels, I think the star ratings are a bit random and useless, but at least somewhat of a borometer. I'm just a little nervous that it looks like were getting smoked in recruiting by most of the WCC, and especially Pepperdine. Gonzaga, I can live with, but Tension has to get at least close to the talent of Ken Starr's Clown Acedemy.

Its coming down to the wire with Ameer...I believe he will be visiting OSU this weekend and Reno next weekend. I'm keeping the faith that we are still in it. If we don't get him a intriguing prospect would be Oscar Bellfield a 6-1 guard from Westchester HS. He is coming off a groin injury this summer but seems to be pretty highly regarded. Maybe Isaiah can get him to be a Lions. Its kind of hard to judge how Coach T recruits...haven't really gotten a chance to see any of his players on the court. Sutton, Sweezy red shirted. It will be interesting to see this years class.
All in all I'm a bit nervous...Santa Clara and Pepperdine have stellar recruiting classes. Zags of course are the zags and have great players signed. St. Mary's also has a very strong class....what do we have...nothing so far.
GO LIONS.

ironlions:
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Tention recruit Deadwiler, Maynard, Craig. We have all seen them on the court and can diagnosis their past and future output. Jury is still out on Tention's recruiting abilities. However, i will say for certain Orlando Johnson is the real deal. That was a great pick up.

You are absolutely correct Lionspride...however Deadwiler was playing on injury from what i hear, Maynard looked to have potential but seemed too skinny. Craig didn't get too much PT. It terms of assessing his recruits last year wasn't the best. I agree Orlando is going to have an immediate impact. From watching the summer run, I really like what I see with all the incoming players. Maynard looked much stronger and was playing great too.
I'll be watching the recruiting boards close to see how we do.
Go Lions.
